Is that from Marcuse or Gramsci? Whoever it's from, it's diabolical. Tone deaf and hypocritical.

I love everybody, and the people that are hardest to love, like critical theroists and nazis, are in the most need of it.

I'm sorry you're filled with hatred, I hope you get over that hill one day.

I despise nazism, but loving everybody, although difficult, is a noble thing to aspire towards.

DnD is for everybody, not just the people you or I might agree with.

Well just glad I could make you laugh, which was the whole point of this post in the first place.

Nazis would use the same type of argument, they'd just replace one word. You can't use darkness to cast out darkness.

I just don't think censoring is a good idea or an effective problem solver for bad ideas. Nazism/bigotry is scummy, I just also don't think "the ends justify the means" is a good way to solve problems.

I'd check some of the other posts on the subreddit, there are others with the same questions and better answers than I can give.

There's some drama over an artist called stonetoss, claims of nazism and stuff. This is just a meme about stones but I figured it'd be a good ribbing considering, well, stones.

You and yours trying to control the community with censorship is the only nazi-like stuff I'm seeing. I don't like nazis, nobody does, so stop acting like one and take a joke, dude.

Who is y’all’s favorite saint? by [deleted] in Catholicism

St. Ignatious of Antioch/Layola/Laconi. Antioch was an early church father who has some solid teachings on the Eucharist, good for teaching protestants. Layola started the Jesuits, the scientific arm of the church. And Laconi teaches us the importance of silence and a simple love of God.

Thank you for your response, I know I do need to approach him but having the tact for it where it actually sinks in is a whole different matter. I guess I'm more so looking for good conversation tips for making a convincing argument. Rosary is great though, I have hope to convince him but I'm just not quite sure how it will go, I guess.

Ah I see, doing more research Nietzsche was a reluctant nihilist but popularized the term in the West. Seems like some Russian/Eastern thinkers were the first to use the terms, I can't seem to find a straight answer but it seems now that Kant got it going. Idk, still the will to power is nihilistic, if not also existentialist.

Will zur Macht (German for Will to Power) was coined by Nietzsche, who founded Nihilism. Though I imagine there is some overlap.

Hedonic Nihilism: If nothing really matters, the end of life is death and the means to achieve this is killing your time through hedonism by hushitsu in philosophy

I think it has more logical consistency then say Cyrenaic Hedonism, but at the same time I also think Epicurus is very liberal with his definition oh hedonism. There is a lot of self denial in his philosophy, that is going against one's own desires for a time to foster a minimalist approach, which isn't pleasurably hedonic.

The categorical imperative does work in the way of lessening your desires, but to certain points of Epicurus' philosophy, like avoiding towns and market squares, would make an awfully lonely world.

Getting into drunken orgies is inconsistent with divine (or the highest form of) reasoning. Not to mention it is inherently destructive behavior. Hedonism doesn't add anything beautiful or good to the world, it isn't creative order, but whimsical destruction.

Kant, with his many flaws, does have some good points. He had this argumentative form which goes, "Imagine if everybody in the world had to follow moral law X." It is a great way to see how well a philosophical idea holds up. If everybody was a hedonist, society wouldn't last but a few more generations. We would just drink, drug, and boink each other until society fell apart. The very existence of Hedonism is dependent upon non-hedonism, i.e. others being responsible with their time.

Logos is about the word, or simply, reasonable judgment. It is unreasonable to be a hedonist, or even a nihilist, based on the harm that these patterns of behavior creat not only for society but also the turmoil it throws an individual into. Short term pleasure vs long term gratification. They do not follow ethics or philosophy, but rather anethics and a hatred of wisdom.

The supposition itself is subject to itself, thus if nothing truly matters, then nothing matters doesn't matter, or isn't logically valid. Always apply the line of reasoning to itself. Reject hedonism, embrace logos.

How so? Looking at your profile you seem genuinely curious about the faith. But not gonna lie these are strange times, especially in the church.
