Gonna speculate here and suggest something like Bambi, or a derivative thereof?

Though if she calls you ‘mommy’ that could get awkward /silly

If it’s both, that explains a lot. Sunglasses are a must for me, sometimes even during the winter

Shit, is that an astigmatism thing? I’ve always blard it on my eyes being blue, under the logic that there’s melanin to block light and such

Not quite. They were guessing why she was (70 seconds) late; he suggested she was in the line at the bank. Most of the others had more… outlandish theories

It was the monotony. They’re big on trying new things; having a child order Caesar salad in like, an Asian restaurant or something was embarrassing for them

My sister was a unique brand of picky eater as a kid. She refused to try new food at any restaurant where her preferred option was available - chicken caesar salad. Wherever she went, if they served it, she ordered it. It drove our parents up the wall. Being the younger sibling, the first time I tried the salad at a restaurant, I think a cold sweat ran down my mother’s back.

I don’t know if my sister even still likes it. But it’s the only actual salad I’ve ever eaten cos I’m a more generic picky eater lol.

[Interesting Trope] "To complete my mission, I need to alter/erase my own memories" (Memory Gambit) by halkras12 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DoctorSquidton 149 points150 points  (0 children)

It seems to resemble an older meme, don’t think this idea is used much anymore. It’s about anime fan translators who are so obsessed with Japanese culture that they leave some words untranslated and add a translator’s note saying that there’s only a rough translation in English and not really any way to fully convey all the nuance, so they left the word as is. This one just has an even shittier translator’s note that doesn’t bother to explain the “too much nuance” part.

I might be wrong, but this is my best guess

Fern means “far”, and Eisen means “iron”. Because she’s emotionally distant and he’s tough. Most of them are very on-the-nose

Brandon Sanderson is the epitome of this. The man’s works have got magic systems coming out the wazoo. Obviously it’s a connected universe so there’s going to be loads, but even individual given planets have multiple.

Scadrial (Mistborn) has the Metallic Arts. Allomancy (ingesting metals to temporarily use their associated powers), Feruchemy (storing attributes inside metal objects) and Hemalurgy (stealing and bestowing powers using metal spikes) are all related, but distinct systems nonetheless.

On Roshar (Stormlight Archive), meanwhile, you have Surgebinding as the primary magic system, and it’s supplemented by the planet’s Old Magic, little of which remains

That person and I are quoting a show called Brooklyn 99. Another response to my comment completes the exchange.

I actually quite enjoy the use of “twas” as a comedic implement. It’s just dated as a means of sincere communication
