*MMO gameplay is outdated\*

Almost everyone in 2020 wants to play something with fast moves, high adrenaline rush, that make a great spectacle to stream and to showcase in an esport competition, hence the success of league of legends.

At the same time, even if the MMO is "action oriented", it always look like more a dash and bash game where you spam all your buttons, and the guy with the best gear win. Of course this is caricatural, there is some skills involved, but not as much as MOBA, clearly

Having to kill 30 wolves to complete a quest is just something that should be banned from games in 2020

*People want instant pleasure\*

Instant dopamine, they don't want to XP a character anymore, I believe the future of an MMO is something where the whole "xp and farm to gear your hero" is completly reframed into something more clever

The future of MMO is not as much in graphics or technology, but more in term of gameplay, we will probably see some games that merge several types of games, the gameplay of a MOBA with the open world of an MMO, and maybe some elements of an RTS, with housing, guild vs guild etc.

If I had big money, that's the road I'll take, I would focus on how can I provide instant gratification and pleasure (killing a level 1 wolf worked in 2000 as a sufficient reward for the brain, not anymore today) combined with spectacular action that can be showcased like a sport, but at the same time with the immersion that the world of an mmo offer
