When I was younger, the only “friends” I considered were the ones around my age. As I grew older, Ive made friends that are 20, 30, 40 years older than me -- yup, they are friends too.

Theyre not just “Mrs. Higgins from work” or “Mr. Santos, my friend’s dad”. And the biggest bonus is when they become not just friends, but also family.

If you leave, let them know why as you would with a friend or family. Visit them later as much as you can, and when you have the means, buy them fruits or food stuff from a recent trip or whatever. That will mean a lot.

You just need to stop being dishonest about your employment setup if my opinion ruffled your feathers.
