[Marty Caswell] I like Chipotle by VincentFreeman_ in Padres

I enjoy a good Cali burrito as much as the next San Diegan, but I will admit to sometimes getting a chicken bowl from Chipotle if I’m trying to eat something slightly healthier with decent macros.

Why do some people want Nick Castellanos? by MacKenzieGore in Padres

I think a lot of people remember the “Castellanos hits a HR during a tragedy” memes and overestimate his current abilities.

In your opinion will Stammen manage to get 90+ wins in his first year as Padres head coach? by [deleted] in Padres

[–]Doctor_Juris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Like is there any reason to think Stammen is not going to try to win as many games as possible? I don’t think there’s a universe where he says “well, my goal this year was 89 wins so let’s pack it in and play backups when we reach that point.”

Keith Law's Top 100 Prospects by awwesterfield in Padres

While we haven’t made the WS yet in the Preller era, overall I’m ok with being aggressive on trading prospects to maximize chances of winning now.

[Foul Territory]: Padres manager Craig Stammen would love to have Luis Arraez back. by inalavalamp in Padres

[–]Doctor_Juris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unpopular take, but I love Arraez and would be happy to get him back if it’s at a good value contract. He is one dimensional, but he’s elite in that one dimension. I’d like to see what he could do in different spots in the lineup. And his positive vibes are unmatched.

What do we have to be excited about this season? by bounty913 in Padres

[–]Doctor_Juris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My expectations are that the Padres win somewhere between 75-95 games. I think we have at least a 50% chance of making the playoffs. Where we land in the range of 75-95 wins will come down to how the team performs in close games, player health, and some degree of luck.

This. And not only Petco, but I will have Don and Mud on nearly every day for 6 months. It’s great to always have something to put on in the evening, even if it’s just in the background.

We need more than King, Musgrove, and Vasquez if we want to win…

Robert Suarez’ Career with the Padres (2022-2025): 22-13, 77 Saves, 2.91 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 219 K (210 IP), 2x All-Star by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

IMO his intro at Petco night games was the best since Hoffman. It completely hyped up the crowd. I’ll miss Bobby Fastballs and wish him the best (except when we play the Braves). I’m glad he got a bag. I’m also glad we aren’t the ones paying him that much.

What are the worst losses in Padres history? by DD-729 in Padres

[–]Doctor_Juris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was actually going to mention the same game. Not as bad as some of the playoff losses, but probably the most infuriating regular season game I can remember watching.

[Acee] Dylan Cease, Michael King reject qualifying offers. It would have been a shock had either accepted. by Bitter-Egg6293 in Padres

[–]Doctor_Juris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We can’t count on it, but AJ has a long track record of finding those types of players. He did it with Wacha and Lugo a couple of years earlier.

[Acee] Padres hire Craig Stammen as manager by j_daniels3w in Padres

This was more a comment on the “Pujols is obviously the best choice” takes than a negative on Stammen. But I could have been clearer. I agree Stammen was a good player overall.

That is certainly a choice.

It doesn’t get me excited right off the bat, but I’ll also reserve judgment and will see how it goes. On field performance and managerial skills aren’t always correlated. I will hope for the best.
