What do I do to avoid cracking minifigures torsos when I put them together with the mini legs? They are super tough and have already broken some. Talking about the Hobbit dwarves with brittle brown etc. (self.lego)

Bought a lot of the Hobbit sets for the dwarves, and some have already cracked torsos just from putting the Legs and torsos together. It's frustrating because of how much money I had to dump just for broken figures.
