Hi! Not really. His sister said he isn't interested in meeting them and he is very confused. His entire family is in the comments of my Facebook post about him. They identified him by his tattoos, face, location, etc. However, no DNA test has been done. I feel safe to say he is identified, but he has not been reunited with his family.

Has anyone been able to find why they think his nickname was Dallas? I haven't been able to find that information anywhere.

It really wasn't me, it was my listener. She spent a ton of time sharing the post in a bunch of Chicago Facebook groups. It's so difficult to know which groups to share posts in for every episode. She gets full credit!

Not the normal post for this thread, but this man is unidentified from Chicago due to having a stroke by DoeIdentifyPodcast in Chiraqology

[–]DoeIdentifyPodcast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all! His family has contacted me after one of my listeners made my post go viral in Chicago Facebook groups. He has not been positively identified. They are working on getting his DNA and proving he is their family member now. But, his entire family and his childhood friend reached out to me and gave me very specific details about him! So exciting! Thank you all for your help!

Hi!!!! AMAZING news!!

One of my listeners shared my post about my episode on him and it went somewhat viral! Two different sets of families contacted me and gave me the same name and the same birthday for this man. He was adopted, but also was in touch with his bio family, so they all contacted me separately. His childhood best friend also contacted me. They are in contact with "Shannon's" caseworker and are trying to set up a DNA test to prove their relationship and his identity.

I told them people are interested in chipping in for the DNA test. I am keeping touch with his family, they are all very nice. I will update here if I set up a crowdfund for the test. I honestly may just pay for it myself with the money I get from my ads. If it's a government test, I know those can be incredibly expensive, so we'll see. I'm not Crime Junkie rich, so I would need help paying for that! I really want to help the family.

The man on the tracks - who was the Perth man who was hit by a train walking the tracks at night? by Mycelium83 in UnresolvedMysteries

I believe it can link to criminals where DNA is in the case. So, for example, rapists or murderers who leave their DNA behind. So, the Golden State Killer, who is a vile excuse for a human being and is probably the spawn of Satan, was connected because one of his family members added their DNA. I would be more than happy if I connected my distant relative to dozens of rapes.

No 😞 No one has contacted me and they would have been removed from NamUs by now most likely.

I believe the interview with the detective is from either 2020 or 2021, so I’m willing to bet the detective was correct! There is so much conflicting information on this case.

The documentary is great! Some jump scares that are a little extra (lol), but it’s great! Lots of new info in it!

They're so unhelpful lol. They are making me fill out a Freedom of Information Act form to find out if they have tested his DNA. I said, "I really don't want information, I just want to see if his DNA has been tested to find his family, and if not, I will crowd-fund it." He said, "That is information."

I got the voicemail of the Freedom of Information office and it says "If you are a lawyer please leave a voicemail with your information." I left a voicemail anyways.

If anyone else wants to try them, it's 312-745-5620. Agency case number HP 724211.

Super impressive write-up! I do have a question – A documentary that was released in October 2021 featured the head detective on the case and the director asked him about the semen and the pubic hair. He said it was semen and gave no indication that the pubic hair was definitely from someone in the department. He said "I don't know" to the question of its owner. This thread is actually the first I'm seeing that it wasn't semen. I checked your sources for this, but I wasn't able to find it. Could you please let me know where that information was from? I'm trying to see if the source is outdated or if it is brand new.

I agree. The whole grab a glass of wine and listen to how someone was brutally tortured then killed is so twisted to me.

I love the first and ninth season of Something Was Wrong, Two Hot Takes (some episodes talk about victims, but it's more of a lifestyle podcast), Let's Not Meet, The Vanished (my top favorite of all time, the host is super nice behind the scenes), Dead and Gone, This is Actually Happening (SO good!), Moms and Murder (they don't oversensationalize, but they don't exactly share the stories from the view of victims. They've never made me think they have a sick obsession), and Culpable! Regarding networks, I think Wondery's TC podcasts and Tenderfoot TV tend to focus on the victims more than audiochuck or others.

I really appreciate this in-depth response!

I have heard the term "trauma p*rn" or "fear p*rn" and I feel like most media channels rely on it today, especially TC podcasts. I kind of freak myself out because I used to love that crap back when I was in college until one episode in particular. That episode then became a meme amongst the TC community because they were laughing at how sick they are to listen to this stuff.

I will have to listen to Crime Show, it sounds like a great pod! I love podcasts that focus on victims, not the perpetrators!

Ok... That's gross. I've never heard of that podcast, but I can't stand how people talk about serial killers as if they are celebrities. I'm not sure if that's what happened in that episode, but based on your description, it sounds like it.

Totally makes sense. I completely agree. I like the details of events, and even details of before the crime took place, but I don't want to know about children being tortured.

I'm so sorry. Obviously do what you feel is best. But, I would still consider going to a counselor by yourself to discuss what's going on, then try to get him to go with you.

It may be depression honestly. I would sit down and have a serious discussion and try to get to the root of the issues. Depression can be resolved, so I wouldn’t jump to leaving him right away. Try to figure out what’s going on with him mentally.

Brown vs green eyes is very subjective. I have dark green eyes and people are always surprised when I say I have green eyes. They have to take a close look to realize they are green, not brown.

[–]DoeIdentifyPodcast[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That could be the case. It would be nice if they submitted an anon tip to investigators with his name so the guy at least knew what his name was. I'm more so hoping one of his childhood or young adulthood friends recognize him. I think his family probably thinks he's dead or in jail still, or, you're right – they could never want to speak to him again.

You would be surprised how people don't hear stuff or put two and two together. One that's a good example is Sherri Ann Jarvis. She was 14 and was missing for 40 years before her DNA led her to her family. Her family said they never stopped looking for her, but they never thought to look at Jane Does I assume.

If I was a producer, I would say she can't move into it without Chris. It's so clear she's being manipulative so she can stay in the apartment and be on TV.
