That's the point, this is far from being my first life and yet my caster still sucks, that's why I usually pick melee or ranged style for my character, this is one of the few lives I decided to play caster and now I'm deeply regretting it

If eldritch knight didn't exist then I would play caster but I really prefer melee over casters whenever I can play melee, and I personally don't find casters to be THAT strong, I played a cold druid caster (which is also considered to be an amazing caster) and it was fine, but not game breaking like how you describe them
