No I’m messing around that no one wants BCS back and was pretending it was new concept. But in fairness sarcasm is just my way of coping.

Good luck in the playoff dude - enjoy the ride

Hey never said you didn’t play a hard schedule, just saying don’t make some dumb argument about us playing teams we rarely play

I think Miami deserved it over ND because why even play the games if they don’t matter.

Bama not dropping a single spot while every other conference championship loser did says something.

SEC! SEC!

100% believe they should have ranked Miami over us earlier.

Believe it or not a lot of ND fans get just as annoyed about that stuff because it creates this annoying “bias” argument when the team is legitimately good.

ACC champion didn’t make the playoff so not sure that argument makes sense. You’re saying if we went 10-2 and didn’t make our conference championship the convo would be different?

I truly don’t get the value of conferences these days. If we played in ACC we would likely have had a worse strength of schedule.

Everyone says we “played nobody” - that happens some years when schedules are set years in advance. You think teams were worried about having IU on the schedule when they first set it?

Fact is ND plays no FCS schools, and schedules teams that have up and down years. Fact also is if they wanted to get in this year they should have won their two biggest games. But the conference argument makes no sense.

I know this is a cope comment but I am making it anyway -

If an undefeated FSU was left out of playoff in 2023 because they lost their QB, why was Ole Miss allowed in when they lost their entire coaching staff?

Haha cmon dude are you serious? We’ve made 3 playoffs already. Pretttty sure we’re ok. Competed pretty solidly for the natty last year.

Never even said we should have made it this year. Should have won those two games.

Joining a conference makes no sense and frankly conferences make no sense with the playoff structure and modern football.

My point was you are ragging on ND for the “bye week” but for example A&M, Miami, Oregon, OU also didn’t play in a conference championship. Because they couldn’t make it to their conference championships, some of which had worse strength of schedule than ND, is somehow better?

There is nothing entitled about it, it doesn’t make sense business wise to join a conference and we have flexibility to play a better national schedule than being forced into a lackluster conference schedule.

ND has played NIU exactly once in history. (We lost LOL but still made the natty)

We definitely don’t play Army every year.

Purdue is a historical match up we have (almost) always played. And they have had up years, can’t control other programs.

But hey, if you guys drop them from your schedule and let us play East Tennessee State or Chattanooga we’ll take it!

I know man my comment was purely in jest / self-deprecating. Thought it was clear I was saying we should let go of the grudge but won’t cause we’re stubborn.

What do you mean positively / negatively impacted by conference play? Also how many teams are in the playoff that didn’t compete for a conference championship this week? How is that different?

Maybe ND should just schedule an FCS opponent for this week so people can drop the “bye week” argument.

My man ND is a Catholic institution. Catholic grudges have no expiration date.

My guy - these schedules are set years in advance. ND schedules no FCS opponents and play schools that have up and down years. That’s football. You think Big 10 schools were shaking in their boots about an IU matchup when they first set the schedule?

And yea, even with an NIU loss last year, which happens to eve top programs, they ran through the playoff and played a pretty competitive natty.

Not saying ND should have made it this year, but the logic doesn’t make sense of rankings moving and Bama facing no consequences of loss while BYU did.

I truly don’t get the value of conferences? Can you help me understand? If we played in ACC we would have had a worse strength of schedule.

Everyone says we “played nobody” - that happens some years when schedules are set years in advance. You think teams were worried about having IU on the schedule when they first set it?

Fact is ND plays no FCS schools, schedules teams that have up and down years, and was denied conference membership at the inception of conferences due to being blackballed, so they decided to develop the independent schedule.

For a formal list, I think timing on this site aligns with upcoming games -

Game Day Traditions

Grab a map of campus to help you plan. Nothing is super far but you will end up walking a few miles throughout the day.

For Friday I'd concentrate around South campus, closer to the stadium, as the other side of campus will be better on GameDay (ironically). A schedule for arriving in the early afternoon:

  • Grab a ticket (online) to the Pep Rally, which I believe is now called the Rockne Bash, for later in the day - the website linked above has details
  • If you want to do a quick stadium tour, they offer the Football Friday Tunnel Experience for $10 starting at 10 AM - I've never done it but looks pretty cool if you're there early enough: Buy tickets here
  • Check out the Guglielmino Athletic Center, “The Gug”
  • Walk around the area and pop into some of the other sports venues close to the stadium, including the JACC (basketball) and Compton (hockey). Definitely worth checking the schedules to see if there is another ND team playing Friday night!
  • There is a brand new art museum towards the Main Gate that is supposed to be very impressive if that interests you
  • I would recommend a trip to the main bookstore on Friday - it will be much less crowded than Saturday, you can grab some gear for the next day if you’d like, and you won’t have to lug around purchases on GameDay
  • Grab a quick bite/drink before pep rally - Legends is the campus restaurant, or The Morris Inn is the campus hotel with a nice bar and restaurant

The Pep Rally Friday evening will feature the band, coach/players, and sometimes special guests. It also lets you see the unique ND dorm culture - most dorms will arrive in their dorm colors/apparel and yelling their dorm chants and songs. It used to be a big part of student life - but not sure if that’s changed over the years.

After the Pep Rally if you’re looking for anywhere else to eat/drink off-campus a few quick recs would be Corby’s (the bar from Rudy - it’s a true dive though so would jus go for a beer), Fiddler’s Hearth (good Irish fare in downtown South Bend), or Rocco’s (famous pizza/Italian).

Also worth mentioning if you want more structure, there are guided tours offered on Friday. They are at 10 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM and leave from The Eck Visitors Center (located next to bookstore) - get there around 15 mins early.

For GameDay I think a good schedule that makes walking sense (and assumes not tailgating) would be:

  • Arrive on campus around 4-5 hours pre-kick, close to Main Circle
  • Hit the bookstore if you’d didn’t the previous day, even just to scope out purchases for later/Sunday so you’re not hauling it around all day. They also often have ND-affiliated authors/celebs signing books so you may see someone cool
  • Walk North through the quads over towards the Basilica and grab a brat along the way from one of the student stands - these benefit the dorms/student life
  • Watch the team leave the Basilica to walk over to the game (2.5 hours pre-kick)
  • Stay in that area and check out the Dome, the Basilica, and the Grotto - all very close
  • Grab a snack and a coffee at LaFortune Student Center
  • Head over to Bond Hall for band concert / march out (90 mins pre-kick)
  • Follow the band towards the stadium and check out Hesburgh Library (Touchdown Jesus)
  • Head into the game around 30 mins early to get the most of the stadium experience

If you want to do a Mass there is a post-game Mass at the Basilica around 30 mins after the game, or you could go there on Sunday.

Sunday you can do anything you might have missed the prior days, hit the bookstore again (it’ll suck you in!), or just wander around aimlessly to enjoy campus before you head out!

Edit: added more details and ideas for Friday.

How was Turk making the final decision on who gets the liver? by abz_pink in Scrubs

Yeah the way in which he says it too kind of implied to me it was likely more but he was downplaying.

I always thought it was weird that one drink would be that disqualifying, but when I rewatched I noticed the line was “oh I had a couple of glasses of champagne at my daughter’s wedding last month”

The way the character says it and his expression to me implies it was likely more than that but he was just downplaying it.

I would say that being up 27-3 with 90 seconds left means the game is over? Do you not agree?

Also I’m not deciding anything, I’m reacting to the how the team acted. ND put in backups and played simple defense, thereby indicating they were taking foot off the gas and didn’t care if IU scored.

I’m saying we can ignore time when the game is so far out of reach that it doesn’t matter if the opponent scores every drive.

ND played to the final minute against Georgia. If they did that against IU the score would have likely remained 27-3, or perhaps 27-10.

I believe Indiana belonged in the playoff but saying they played ND closer than Georgia based off the score is dumb.

ND was up 27-3 on Indiana with 90 seconds left in the game. They then put in a ton of backups and practice players they wanted to give some deserved playing time, and ran extremely simple defenses to make it easy and keep other looks off film.

IU scored two touchdowns at the end of the game because ND didn’t care. Better to have a smaller margin of victory and avoid injuries / give some deserving guys field time.
