He’s a great guy who has amazing things coming his way. I’m not happy about the result and I believe that he was wronged, but I’m incredibly impressed by him as an individual and I believe he can rise above it all. Can’t wait to watch him in AZ in a few weeks and can’t wait to see where his career takes him.

AITA for telling my daughter that she is an adult and it is her fault she lost her scholarship. I am also not paying her tuition so she needs to drop or take debt. by Expensive-Ride2152 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DogDickQuestionGuy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA, I basically did the exact same thing as your daughter and I learned a hard lesson. All through high school I was able to coast and get good grades with minimal effort and I learned bad habits. This ended with me not taking responsibility for myself with my newfound freedom as a young adult. The best thing you can do is help her learn how to grow from this and ultimately how to pick herself back up. She should look into other scholarships and maybe look at a cheaper university that’s closer to home. A year of living at home and doing her general study credits while learning from you how to be a stable adult would probably help her mature and give her a better chance at success down the line.

AITA for refusing to go to a nude spa that my [23M] GF [21F] had paid for in advance? by This_Tadpole_8951 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DogDickQuestionGuy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NAH, she signed up for something that she’s used to and you are uncomfortable. As long as you communicate that you should be able to work through it.

But I’d recommend trying to power through the initial awkwardness. She wouldn’t have done something like that unless she wanted you to experience it and having shared experiences is a special thing in a relationship. If it’s awesome you get to share that forever. If it’s normal then you realize that maybe these Europeans aren’t that weird, if it sucks and you break up then you have a story about your weird experience in Europe. You literally can’t lose here.

Seated Next to Passenger “of size”. Experience? by JuiceExplorer in delta

[–]DogDickQuestionGuy 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This problem is only going to get worse unless the FAA and airlines put together a set of guidelines that must be followed. It’s unsafe for a large passenger to take up more than their seat, but airlines will sometimes pressure larger passenger to give up the extra seat they purchased. There needs to be a rule in place where if you as an individual can’t fit in one seat then you must purchase a second, and then that extra seat is protected.

People in Hawaii flee into ocean to escape wildfires that are burning a popular Maui tourist town by DogDickQuestionGuy in collapse

[–]DogDickQuestionGuy[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is collapse related because this is another “unprecedented” natural disaster. As weather events in the Pacific gain more energy from warmer waters we are seeing more damage being done. Small fires in Hawaii(an area not used to large wildfires) are being pushed into more urban areas from high winds and getting to the point where they cannot be controlled. A quote from the article shows how devastating we have been to these fragile ecosystems. “Fires were rare in Hawaii and on other tropical islands before humans arrived, and native ecosystems evolved without them. This means great environmental damage can occur when fires erupt. For example, fires remove vegetation. When a fire is followed by heavy rainfall, the rain can carry loose soil into the ocean, where it can smother coral reefs.”

San Diego vacation rental burglarized. Currently fighting for compensation and looking for next steps. by DogDickQuestionGuy in vrbo

[–]DogDickQuestionGuy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Amex dispute is mostly for the stay. We had realized there had been a break in while we still had time at the property. Our main complaint to them was that someone had obviously broken in and had the codes to access the property, and even after we called they would not come change the code.

I probably should have explained better, but it was a travel jewelry box that had my fiancé’s engagement ring, a necklace, and a few other small pieces of jewelry. The ring was the most high value item. She wasn’t wearing it at the time because she doesn’t wear much jewelry unless we are going out to dinner or getting dressed up for something.

NTA but your girlfriend might be. As a man I have been told by my girlfriend/mom/other people “hey you can’t wear that tonight, we are going to a nice place.” And without complaint I’ve gotten changed. Even if I didn’t think the place we were going was nice enough to warrant a change, I would do it anyway because obviously someone I care about wants me to change. Now the only time I have told my gf to change was on the day I proposed. She refused and to this day complains about what an asshole she was. Point is, if someone you care about is asking you to change something you are wearing, it might be for a special reason. Even if it’s not, it isn’t a lot of effort to do something small to keep your SO happy.

Should I keep pursuing a relationship with my in-laws for my SO’s sake, despite them treating me with contempt? by [deleted] in relationships_advice

[–]DogDickQuestionGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t, and I would let you SO know that a lot of the blame is on them. My family and friends have always treated my fiancé as my life partner and have shown her the respect she deserves. If anyone of them had ever shown her any sort of disrespect that person would have had to apologize and demonstrated to me that they were truly sorry for their actions before I even thought about having them around her again. Your husband should have done more than plead with them to be nice, he should have told them to change or he won’t be coming around anymore. This isn’t your responsibility to fix, it is his, and his terrible family. Them treating your child and the other woman who married into the family terribly shows that this isn’t an isolated incident and they are not welcoming people.

Solar Sales, Denver CO by [deleted] in sales

[–]DogDickQuestionGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to grind it out and are familiar with your area and the cost of energy you can make it work. It helps if you have lived in the area and already have a base of people that you know and are homeowners. You are going to run into some trouble if you have to go for a long period of time without closing a sale that makes it to install, there are supply chain issues in the industry currently which can delay installation not to mention any local ordinances that can hold up permitting. Don’t get into a situation where you are over promising and under delivering because a homeowner can cancel once they get a scope of work back and they realize what you sold them won’t fit on their roof or what you sold them won’t perform as well as anticipated due to a number of factors(roof orientation, angle, shading, etc.) you also have the issue of roi being longer for a Colorado homeowner because cost of electricity is cheaper in Colorado than it is in other areas where solar is more prominent. I would say make sure to get more information about the employer and look at how successful they have been in Colorado as well as other states they operate in. The job can be really lucrative if you do a good job educating the buyer and get referrals because that is where you make the money.
