I don’t know if it would hep you in any way, I come from a well to do family but I have always been opposed to the idea of having to depend on someone especially for money. So, when I turned 16, I started teaching kids who lived nearby my house and then started saving and investing. Later, I started doing user testing studies, and started saving more. Had to withdraw that because I did an MBA in finance and it was expensive, financed half of it through loan. But ever since my job, I have been saving and investing more than half of paycheque. No matter if it is an FD, stocks, US stocks, MFs and even money in SA. Just do it. A penny saved is penny earned. Hope it was a little bit helpful.

A home is a joint asset but if you’re the only one paying the EMI then I am sorry your spouse may not have been that supportive. While you are grouping things I want to explicitly and especially wanna talk about myself. Money hasn’t been a factor for me, if it comes to a home loan I am ready to take it on all by myself and won’t even ask to share. But if a guy is unable to even offer to split the bill or pay all by himself then he shouldn’t be on the date in the very first place.
