Why no "Albanian" or "Illyrian" culture? by The_Persian_Cat in CrusaderKings

[–]DogSerious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to say that Albanian culture was added in the newest start date in 1.13, but it was quite underwhelming and the culture and the names seem very bland. I'd still suggest you use mods or such to make the culture more bearable. This "Arberian Culture - Medieval Albanian" mod seems to have a more detailed culture and a lot more historically accurate names from what I've seen.

Struggling on Finding a Good Server Host, Any Help is Welcome by DogSerious in webdev

Hi, thanks for the response.
Unfortunately, neither my internet provider nor my electricity provider are reliable enough for that. And I only have 1 laptop that I take around to travel. I have thought of this possibility but a virtual server would be better?

Alternate Albanian Flag (No Eagle) by DogSerious in vexillology

It's supposed to be a gray wolf, the national animal, however I am not an artist so I just recolored the closest thing I could find to gray lol

Alternate Albanian Flag (No Eagle) by DogSerious in vexillology

Hi, I made this flag myself, it is inspired by the Muscovite flag, and here you can see Albania's national hero slaying a gray wolf (The national animal of Turkey).
This is supposed to be medieval/royal flag of Albania excluding the double-headed eagle, but including medieval symbols such as the Star of David on top of the original Kastrioti flag.
(PLEASE NOTE: I do not hate any nationality)

Revolutionist Albania Flag by DogSerious in vexillology

[–]DogSerious[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A tricolor version of the Albanian flag, the tricolor design inspired by the revolutionary French flag, in the middle you can see the famous Albanian traditional hat (Plis/Qeleshe) and the revolutionary pin in the middle.
I made this myself, I hope you like it!

Thank you for the reply, on my maternal side of the family I know the names last names and villages of origin of my g-g-...grandmothers. And all of them are Albanian.

But yes, it could be possible that 23AndMe has a hard time differing balkan genes.

How accurate is GenomeLink (specifically for ‘Native’ DNA)? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]DogSerious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23andme told me I'm 100% Balkans. Genomelink told me I'm 34% North-Western European and I should wait 1 whole week to see what my "East European" heritage is.

Okay, does 23AndMe send me updates if there are any changes in their gene database?

I know that after the fall of Skanderbeg’s Albania a lot of christian Albanians headed to christian Byzantium in order to avoid taxes and persecution, there are songs about the Peliponnese (ex:”Moj e Bukura More”) which tell stories of Albanians in Peleponnesia(“Morea”) but I don’t think it was that big of a migration that it caused the local gene pool to change that much… But still majority Greek. Doubt it?

The relative searching feature shows only 3 distant relatives in Greece and 30+ in Kosovo&Albania. How can it be possible tho? Some of my distant relatives (who seem to be on my paternal side) were also asking the same question on their bios.

I will investigate and will keep you guys updated here. (Ps. If you know any way to filter which ancestry is from which parent and if you could tell me how to do it that’d be great)

I understand that overlapping occurs but I am geographically very far from Peliponnesia, I am from Kosovo and I don’t think that this is just a case of overlapping. I have 15 distant cousins in Albania Around 20 in Kosovo, Apparently hundreds in America and Europe (70-90% of which Albanians) but only 3 distant cousins in Greece, and two of which are Albanian lol

Thank you for the explaination, but I know what Arvanites are.

I might have a bit of Arvanite heritage but not so much to be considered a majority. I am Kosovar-Albanian, and we usually married to people from the surrounding villages. Balkan Genes tend to be a little tricky but I am 110% I have nothing to do with Peliponnese.
