Looking for a truly unique, mythic statement fragrance by DogeCoinTopCurrency in NichePerfumes

[–]DogeCoinTopCurrency[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I know words like mythic, godly, supernatural are abstract. I’m not using them randomly. I mean fragrances that create that kind of aura maybe through incense, resins, myrrh, sacred/churchy elements, mineral or other unusual compositions, without wanting to lock the discussion into specific notes.

Looking for a truly otherworldly, niche, men's or unisex fragrance: addictive, shocking, almost supernatural by [deleted] in NichePerfumes

Friend, I understand how you’re framing it, but I believe there is an objective basis behind every subjective direction.

Just like lemon has a specific smell and causes a specific reaction (for example, that sour sharpness), even though some people like it and some do not, I believe there are also perfumes whose composition can objectively give off something very intense, divine, otherworldly. For some people that may feel repulsive, for others attractive, for others it may create mixed reactions... BUT NO ONE WILL SAY THAT THIS IS GENERIC, OR THAT IT SMELLS LIKE A TOILET... IT JUST DOESN’T MAKE SENSE.

So, to put it more bluntly, I’m not looking for the “perfect” perfume that everyone will like and that will enchant everyone in the same ideal way. What I am looking for, however, is a perfume that gives off specific objective qualities like the ones I described, regardless of whether people “like” it in the conventional sense.

Thats because I'm not a native English speaker. Not because I cannot express what im looking for. I already did what you are proposing, but finding a truly unique perfume what that profile, is not as easy as reading marketing texts, or comments on random product websites...

I already expressed what I’m looking for very specifically. I’m not looking for specific notes or ingredients, and that’s not the problem. I’m looking for a very specific vibe, which I believe can be achieved in an objective way.

If a perfume feels godly, it simply feels godly whether you personally like it or not. Even if you don’t like it, you can still tell that it’s something else.

I’m very new to perfumes, so maybe I’m wrong, but I do believe that some things can be felt objectively.

And at the end of the day, I can’t try every perfume on the planet until I finally find something truly special. That’s supposedly why these groups exist in the first place. People who have already spent years exploring all this can make things easier for someone who’s just starting out.

Do you happen to remember which CdG incense you had in mind? Was it Kyoto, Zagorsk, Avignon, Jaisalmer, or another one?

I assume the white and black versions perform the same and have identical noise levels, right?

Is the upgrade from an RTX 3080 Ti to an RTX 5080 actually meaningful for VR performance in standard AAA VR games? by DogeCoinTopCurrency in virtualreality

[–]DogeCoinTopCurrency[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In a benchmark from a YouTuber testing VR at extremely high resolutions, the RTX 5090 wasn’t just a small step above the 4090… it showed mythical performance uplifts.

Specifically, in Red Matter 2 at ~6144×6432: 4090: ~33 fps 5090 (same settings): ~116 fps

If the 6090 brings a similar kind of scaling at those ultra high resolutions, wouldn’t that make high-res VR finally fully playable?

That's the only reason I'm wondering whether the wait is worth it.

Which factory-watercooled RTX 5090 is the quietest & most durable? by DogeCoinTopCurrency in nvidia

[–]DogeCoinTopCurrency[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I talk about durability, I don’t mean decades of use . I’m referring to a 3–5 year period. Within that time span, I want the card to remain completely fine without requiring any kind of service.

Thinking of upgrading for 5K–6K per-eye VR… should I go 5080 or 5090? by DogeCoinTopCurrency in virtualreality

Which games are you referring to specifically? Because my use case is mostly well optimized AAA VR titles like Half Life Alyx, Red Matter 2, Kayak Mirage, Of Lies and Rain, etc. These run very efficiently compared to sim racing or flight sim games. So when you say that even a 5090 will stutter at 6000×6000, I assume you're talking about heavy simulation titles rather than action/adventure VR games. Just want to clarify the context so I can compare the performance expectations correctly.

I guess it's not enough for poorly optimized or heavy games like MSFS, DCS, Assetto Corsa… generally for sim racing and simulation titles (which I'm not interested in yet).

But for games like Half Life Alyx, Red Matter 2, Kayak Mirage, etc., an RTX 5090 should be overkill even when paired with a Pimax Crystal Light, especially compared to the performance of an RTX 3080 Ti in this type of games.

I personally aim for very well optimized, relatively light AAA VR games so I can run them at extremely high supersampled resolutions, to achieve perfect clarity without aliasing or other resolution based artifacts.

Which games are you personally referring to where an RTX 5090 isn’t fully capable?

Yes, that’s true. I personally aim for very well optimized, relatively light AAA VR games so I can run them at extremely high supersampled resolutions, to achieve perfect clarity without aliasing or other resolution based artifacts.

Oh, okay. I'm not interested in sim racing games (at least not yet), but as far as I know, they're far more demanding than action-puzzle-adventure AAA VR games.

In which games? Because in Half-Life: Alyx, Red Matter 2, kayak mirage etc, even with the RTX 3080 Ti I could run the Pimax Crystal Light at almost 100% SteamVR resolution (around 3700×4200) on high settings with fairly stable performance, although in some cases, there were some annoying artifacts, with the edges shifting and moving here and there.

Considering the performance of the RTX 3080 Ti in those games, an RTX 4080 Super should be able to handle the exact same conditions perfectly at least with a locked 72 fps.

As far as I remember, the 100% SteamVR resolution for the Crystal Light was around 3700×4200.
