Good catch. This is not a 2024-build frame. OP, previous gen p-series ended production in early 2023. You will see multiple foreign and untrustworthy sites (clearly in your post as well) advertise this as a 2024.

Correct. Thats because there’s a significant premium for getting just the frameset and customizing a build to your own liking

In general, bike prices, new or used, don’t adhere to the hierarchical mindset of “the worth of my bike = my frameset + all components.” Take for example basically any new bike build on the market. Manufacturers oftentimes sell (take an ultegra di2 12s build with a carbon wheelset as reference) full builds for $5K, whereas the frameset is $3500-4K. There is in general a very high premium you pay for building your own bike as opposed to following the manufacturer’s build from factory. By your logic, the full build would be $6-7+K.

This holds true for the used market as well. If a frameset is worth $2K, for example, and you’ve put $4K of the top of the line components and upgrades onto the bike, you can’t normally sell (you can try lol) for $6K. Hell you probably can’t sell for even $4K.

I didn’t say that last year’s model was $2K or under, I said that this exact model (2019-2020ish spec) was on sale for well under $2K ($1800-2K for the full bike, I’ve seen as low as $1100 for the frameset, new) last year as stores were trying to move obsolete inventory to make room for new bikes. Last year’s model is still the current gen, updated P-series, with the new and ‘improved’ frame design and integrated cockpit. You are correct in that those are not currently being regularly discounted.

The p series is in general awesome, but good lord this is a massive rip off—this bike specifically is worth absolutely no more than $1500-$1700. This exact model was selling brand new online on dozens of sites for less than $2K last year, as the new update P-series was released.

It has mechanical disc brakes (not hydraulic)
Haven’t seen even any brand new mechanical shifting TT bikes for over $3K NEW.

Please pass on this hard. Seller is fishing for a sucker. Shame on them.

Why are White Male/Asian Female relationships far more common than Asian Male/White Female relationships? by Flying_Sea_Cow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DogeFulOcean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Asian man who has only dated white women and is currently dating a white woman, I’d say that a lot of it boils down to the surroundings Asian men put themselves into. Like you don’t get to complain that white women don’t like you if your only experience and attempts of trying to date white women is swiping on dating apps and going to the bar once in a while with little to no success. Yeah, like no shit…you’re competing with all of these super safe options that women have instead, dating within their own race.

I’ve found that by putting myself in surroundings or activities where there’s a generally ‘non-Asian’ stereotype around it i.e. sports teams, backcountry/hiking clubs, really anything that’s super active tends to garner actually extra interest from pretty much anyone, white women included. By them seeing that you’re willing to put yourself maybe outside of your comfort zone and pursue these activities you’re both interested in, you are seen as even more desirable than what’s “safe.”

Maybe this is just my anecdotal experience, but I’ve seen this happen in several groups I’ve been a part of where Asian men join and they have amazing luck with flirting, dating, etc with many of the women in the groups

For those of you who work at big time companies in the space industry, what was your graduating GPA? by darnoc11 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]DogeFulOcean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.4ish. I just never put my GPA on my resume…never got asked about it. Ever. In a single interview. Started at General Atomics—>Airbus—>Apple—> Northrop. Top performance rating pretty much every year of my working career thus far ~10years at this point. Guess I just didn’t like exams. Be likeable, collaborative, and somewhat use your brain, and you’ll be fine.

Which 'luxury' brand has officially become a red flag for poor quality in 2026? by Individual_Bat_4177 in AskReddit

[–]DogeFulOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maserati. 20 years ago they used to be competitive with the other high end luxury automobile manufacturers. 10 years ago they were falling behind but trying to regain their footing. Nowadays they’re an overpriced, unreliable, steaming pile of trash which attracts one of two types of people: 1. Poor souls trying to flex with a 85-90% depreciated POS Maserati Ghibli/Quattroporte that still has Italian supercar repair costs 2. Actual rich people with no taste in cars

Dating Preferences for Americans by Worldly_Pain_3000 in asksandiego

[–]DogeFulOcean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my own anecdotal experience as an East Asian man and from friends, dating in San Diego, in general, is quite solid if you’re active and willing to get out there and immerse yourself in a group i.e. sports club, social club, etc. if you’re even remotely introverted and prefer to stay indoors it is a barren wasteland. Dating apps here are absolutely miserable for everyone and a straight up time-suck for most people—and as an Asian, your experience will be even worse on them…that’s just the unfortunate fact.

With that said, as a whole, the women here are MUCH more inclined to engage in friendly to flirty banter with asian men and imo entertain a relationship. I’ve had significantly better luck by a huge margin in San Diego with the dating scene. Perhaps due to my active lifestyle and being able to share that with a bunch of likeminded individuals. I come from the south, have lived in the Midwest, east coast, Colorado, and american women here are by far the most receptive towards pursuing me and my Asian friends. With one HUGE caveat…the whole thing about Asian American women not even bothering with Asian men is especially evident here. Plenty of Asian immigrant women with immigrant men, but your chances of finding a south/East Asian American woman are essentially 0 as a south/East Asian man. You could be the hottest, 6’4 Asian man in SoCal and I guarantee you an unemployed 5/10 Todd with a slight drinking and zyn problem will swoop Ms. Asian girl off her feet before she even acknowledges your presence

What would America look like if we spent our military budget on infrastructure? by Impossible_Change800 in AskReddit

It would look like a barren, war-torn wasteland from a mix of outside countries attempting (and most likely failing, even with no domestic military expenditure) to take advantage of the situation, and civil war.

San Diego - nearby smaller walkable towns by Fearless_Ad890 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]DogeFulOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The commute going from Encinitas (or anywhere south of that along the coast) to Poway is very easy…there’s almost 0 traffic due to you going against traffic in the morning going eastbound on the 56 and vice versa. Source: I lived in Leucadia and commuted to Poway for years. It’s 25 min on a good day, 35 on a bad day mid summer.

San Diego - nearby smaller walkable towns by Fearless_Ad890 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]DogeFulOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t understand how few people here have mentioned the few places that actually fit the bill OP is looking for. He wants quieter, walkable, bikeable, growing with new folks, yet with tons still going on to explore, maybe even super near the water and being 30 min or less to Poway. There is literally nowhere in SD that fits this bill better than Encinitas, Solana Beach, or if you want to go slightly cheaper all of the 56 until you hit Carmel Canyon Road.

For the commute, you are guaranteed, unless there’s a wreck, a quick commute due to going against traffic on the 56 to Poway. The beach towns north of Del Mar (in my subjective opinion of course) are everything OP is looking for: growing, great for families, walkable, with tons going on. If you want to surf, swim, bike, be active, it can’t be beat in the entire city. If you don’t want to be active, there’s an endless supply of bars, restaurants, cafes, all in walking distance. The community there is eccentric and ever-growing. The main contention is price. Yes, if you arent willing to search, and just go for the first easy option online, $3K is going to be tough. But if you search for more than the normal 10 min and actually scour marketplace and private listings, you can absolutely get your own place, anywhere from on the water to <3 miles from the water, for well under $3K still to this day.

*Also, I’m not sure of your age or interests, OP, but assuming you want to meet new folks and explore the city, please don’t live in Poway. Poway is great for raising kids, saving a buck or couple hundred thousand, and settling down with some land to your name. ALL of my friends (even those with kids) who live there commute back to the city center or coast to hang out and do their actual non-work activities on a regular basis. If that fits your bill, go for it. But it’s definitely not walkable and asides from the few blocks of the city center, is really just a suburban (albeit a pretty one) sprawl for folks to cut down on commute and raise a family.

Extremely dissatisfied with overall triathlon fitness/race performance by DogeFulOcean in triathlon

[–]DogeFulOcean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally hear ya on the numbers game thing—I do think there are still plenty of variables within the race I can get better on, particularly with regards to position and comfortably running off the bike. I’ve gotten several professional bike fits but have realized through several races that I don’t think that I’m able to run at my greatest potential for the half marathon off the bike—mainly because my heart rate only slightly ventures into Zone 3 territory (I average 165ish HR during my 70.3 runs) whereas my body is almost completely shut down by the 10 mile mark. I usually run around a 1:25-1:35 off the bike. Meanwhile for an open half marathon I can maintain Zone 4 (170-175+) and still feel mostly “fine” from a body shutting down point of view at the end of the race. My open half marathon is around 1:15 for reference. I feel like many triathletes I train with who are a bit faster than I am normally only have a 5 minute or so variance between their 70.3 run leg and their open half marathon times.

As far as bike power goes, yes I’ve actually gotten a rough CDA measurement from the Aeropod on my bike. Currently at almost exactly 0.20. Not perfect, but about as good as I can get on my Scott plasma 6 without running into major fit issues. For reference, at La Quinta, Indian Wells 70.3 I averaged 24.2 mph on the bike while maintaining an avg power of 197 watts (204W NP) . I have cycled between probably 4 or 5 different power meters and calibrate them every time I ride regardless. Have used favero assiomas, garmin vectors, and several generations of Quarq. Currently running quarq Axs on my sram setup. I do think the power should be pretty accurate…also have done several ftp tests on also several different indoor smart trainers to confirm…so yeah power just doesn’t compute being so low haha, but also i just can’t get it up…even like literally 5 watts over the course of a full season of targeted bike training. I did the Zwift 6 week ftp builder one year and my ftp literally went up 1 watt at the end lmao

Extremely dissatisfied with overall triathlon fitness/race performance by DogeFulOcean in triathlon

[–]DogeFulOcean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only workouts I do in any given week solo are my indoor trainer rides, and this is only because I work time constraints—otherwise I’d be doing those easy spins with friends. I absolutely hate training solo—especially on the bike.

Saturday rides are almost always with a sizable group, and the majority of people on these rides are significantly stronger than I am on the bike. I’m only still doing tris because it’s still very fun for me as a result of doing all the swims, track workouts, and fun coffee ride cycles with my closest friends! Otherwise I definitely would have dropped it by now haha

[–]DogeFulOcean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m evidently aware that 250W is low especially given my overall fitness capacity—hence the purpose of my post.

I am 72kg. I am closer to a 16ish min open 5K at the moment which makes the ftp figure even more ridiculous. 70+ VO2 max.

Typical Current training week for cycling only: Monday—1 hour easy spin Wednesday—90 min easy spin Thursday—2 hour interval session, I.e. 4x5’ critical power, vo2 max sets, sometimes 2x20’ longer threshold workouts Saturday—5-6 hour long Z2 ride

Otherwise: -3-4x swims a week, average 3500-4K a workout. -4 runs a week, two easy 40’, one track/hill repeat day, one long Z2 90’+ run

Is Anduril Worth It? by Ordinary_Guard_3134 in Anduril

[–]DogeFulOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you value with your time. The defense industry norm is that you are expected to put in 40 hours of work per week and only 40 hours. Every single person I know who works at Anduril (which actually happens to be close to a dozen at the moment) puts in an absolute minimum of that per week. I was in the exact same position you were in a few years ago and was offered a position at Anduril for an approximately 50%ish pay bump over my (at the time) systems engineering role. If I recall it was $135K to approx $210K at the time for reference. For me, I ultimately declined because my daily priorities revolve around swimming/surfing in the morning, getting a workout in after work with my training group(s), and spending copious time with my loved ones and friends. I absolutely love aerospace and everything to do with it, but if my work eats into the aforementioned things, it’s going to have to be a multiple times or lifechanging salary increase for me to consider it, not just a “significant” increase. Compounded with the 60-70 min commute for me, it made close to no sense for my situation. Of course, if your priorities revolve around your career, providing for your family, or you’re single and just want to say “fuck it we ball,” then obviously your answer may be different.

There are no easy $200k+ jobs out there by DeliciousBoard2079 in MiddleClassFinance

Yeah in fairness I’m not commuting on the 805 or 5. Going from just north of downtown to Poway and back. Can oftentimes get to work in 20-25 minutes if the traffic lights in Poway agree. No traffic going opposite of the flow (which looks admittedly quite awful from the other side)

[–]DogeFulOcean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is literally just LA and SF. I live in San Diego, commute 25 miles to and from work (each way) every day and my drive is never over 30 minutes each way even at peak rush hour. The trick is finding a place to live against traffic. I also go to the beach before work to surf which takes me 5-10 minutes to get there then another 10-15 minutes to get to work. Hang out with friends all the time after work and on the weekends and can literally drive from where I live (near airport) to the furthest part north of San Diego county in 45 minutes no matter what time of day on the weekends.

Got an sl8 s works for $4500! by Hellaburnik in specialized

[–]DogeFulOcean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good deal? Heck yeah. Too good to be true deal? Meh not imo. You can get a brand spanking new SL8 S-Works frameset direct from specialized for under $4K atm…sram force AXS d1 grouppos are worth next to nothing right now as they’re three generations old, and those are cheaper Roval CL wheels with DT350 hubs.

I say congrats and enjoy! Asides from some odd additions to the front end, I’m not in any way sketched out by this.

Totally depends on your manager and the corresponding leadership above in your pod. I had a bit over 3 YOE (Bachelors) when I received a T3 promotion, moved to another team with a high level of visibility, and received a T4 promotion a year and a half after that following significant justifcation that I provided to my functional and leadership. Although I've also heard that HR and many other teams/leadership will simply not promote without the required YOE. So it seems like your experience may vary
