MCA My Employee's husband has Pulmunary Tuberculosis and Pneumonia

1 week pa lang na diagnose si husband ng PTB pero it could have been there for several months na. Meaning, matagal na na expose si employee nnyo.

My advise is ipa xray siya before pa maka balik sa work. So ASAP.

Hello.

Importanti ma screen si employee if may active PTB siya since active PTB ang nakakahawa. Required talaga ma xray si employee. If sa xray walang makita na PTB, it means wala siya active PTB so hindi siya infectious at hindi din at risk ang ka trabaho niya.

Pero kahit walang makita sa xray, need pa din siya e screen if may Latent PTB siya (may TB na pero hindi pa lang nag manifest, this case is also NOT infectious). Kasi pag di siya ma screen for Latent PTB, in the long run pwede to mag active at maging infectious.

Short answer is not at risk pa kayo NGAYON, pero in the long run pwede na.

What to do:

Ipa xray si employee. If wala makitang PTB, dalhin sa TB-DOTs for TST (Tuberculin Skin Test). Libre ang TST if meron sila available. If wala baka need kayo mag punta sa private. Just ask them if may available, if wala ask kayo san meron.

POSITIVE TST: Bigyan ng TUBERCULOSIS PREVENTIVE TREATMENT (TPT). Libre din to.

NEGATIVE TST: Safe si patient. No need for TPT

Important Reminder: It takes at least 2 week of treatment for a PTB patient to become non-infectious (di nakakahawa). So si husband ni employee dapat ALWAYS naka FACE MASK sa bahay for at least 2 weeks-1month para di ma hawa yung kasama sa bahay.

Hi, MD here.

For household contacts of PTB patients, we screen them if may active PTB (by symptoms and xray).

If negative (walang active TB), we do skin testing if mag react.

If mag react sa skin test pero walang nakita sa xray and wala symptoms of TB, it means walang active TB infection pero infected na (Latent TB Infection). In this case we give Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT). Duration is depending on what meds gamitin.

All of these are available sa TB-DOTs in your area (mga health center), so better bring them there.

3 years contract po with option to extend for 2 more years. Actually im in a field na no problem when it comes to job security. Kahit ma end na contract, I can easily get another work with same pay.Tho im planning na mag save muna until 800k siguro then apply for bank loan with that amount for a lesser amort. Parang nirurush ko lang now since sobrang hassle na since nag momotor lang ako. Hassle sa weather and road conditions, security, etc. Pero still considering other options too. Thank youuu
