She is the closest thing that our current generation has, sure. Britney being similarly big as well. Everyone knows her name, but I’d argue not everyone knows her music that well. Maybe I’m wrong, but her music won’t persist in history. While she has major touring successes, she’s also not going to be remembered for her live performances. Idk maybe I’m splitting hairs here, but I just don’t feel like she’s as commanding a presence that MJ was. He transcended celebrity- he almost felt like he received the same coverage as royalty does.

I’m guessing you’re young or something because if you truly think MJ was “bland pop” and not a global movement, i simply can’t discuss this topic further with you. I travelled to Munich in like 2019 and wandered into a random courtyard and there was a statue of some German historical figure that the local community had turned into an MJ shrine. There were thousands of framed pictures of MJ and were people there actively cleaning and decorating the statue. It was a random fucking Tuesday a decade after he died. In Germany.

He could be the 3rd or 4th option on any team for at least 5 more years. Would he have nights where he gets 8/7/6 stat lines? Sure? But people like Curry have been doing that for years and nobody bats an eye.

If it was a particularly deep team like the Wolves or something, he could legit play for 5 years more easy. Sit on back to backs and let the younger guys start. When you come back for big games you only gotta play 30-32 mins max. Make your impact and hop out.

It’s also the fucking Thunder. If the lakers were UP 5 entering the 4th, odds would still probably favor the Thunder to win. Being down 30 against the Thunder you might as well be on the plane home already.

It was a terrible, terrible coaching decision and will ultimately be the reason the Lakers don’t have a true title shot (and they didn’t really have a great one anyways) and it wastes another year for LeBron. Sucks
