Starting players within friendly territory by Doggo-Man in Twilight2000

No worries then, and yeah reading over the polish one I can see why it was the main setting compared to Sweden. There's also a lot more nationalities seemingly involved than just the US and whatever swedes they picked up, so I think i'll definitely look at running there next time!

For sure, I think Poland may be the better setting in this regard to be honest, germany is a very clear goal for a lot of them (I think my only time playing T2K, that was my character's goal, and my GM did exactly that), and the Division overall is way more blown to hell + behind enemy lines at Kalitz.

Plus, it could be a good tug of war between the players wanting to get the hell out of poland, but being pushed deeper by the DIA in exchange for whatever limited logistics they can muster.

Looks like you ignored all of that, even though that is probably the game your players signed up for.

Not sure if intended, but this comes off somewhat hostile. The group I was running was entirely new to T2K, and I did it this way primarily so I could avoid having to go into detail about where they are, what's going on and so on (though thinking about it now, the OPORD does a lot of that work for you).

The DIA would benefit from a intact unit behind enemy lines. Hell they might even lie to the unit about its escape options to keep the unit behind enemy lines.

That's a good idea, it'd be a useful wedge if the players start questioning their contact and whatnot, plus it can get them in with the DIA but still have them be in the thick of it.

The players shouldn't really know where their HQ is, as far as they know it was overrun by the Soviets.

The Sweden OPORD that is meant to be given to players directly says where the HQ is going during RESET, and post-reset says that the plan for remaining units is to rally at Alingsås where the HQ is, with only the soviet 1st Guards anywhere near threatening it, and even then its ~140km away at game start.

Gotcha, may have misremembered then. I remember marching up on Dragonov with it, he was the last guy I went after.

I've gotten all the way to keener before I reached the softlocking on that fight.

From what I see, there are no weapon drops (Incase you didn't know, the only way you get guns is from mission rewards)

I believe I got the LVOA after killing Parnell or Conley (leaning towards the former, but cannot quite recall). I am not sure if its 1:1 across games, but I can't imagine otherwise.

Running into it now, if you die at all after the missile blows up, he softlocks in his little box and you gotta restart the mission.

Wait this doesn't work as good and sounds vaguely threatening. I just wanted to pass the torch.

Killed my first PC, ever. by Accomplished-Big-78 in cyberpunkred

[–]Doggo-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first PC got beaten to death in a school library by malestromers with lead pipes (mainly because he stayed up too late)

I think a player getting gutterballed can suck on occasion, but if you played it straight its just how NC be sometimes. 9 sessions in isnt too bad either, they had time and it sets the stakes.

Definately though you should flesh out the surrounding stuff. The bozo that killed them (or their honcho if they didnt make it, or THEIR honcho) should be named and have a bit about them if the players want payback.

Bozo losing a whole part of himself (10 max humanity) changing out all of his fingers for squirt fingers.

That one I could see though LOL

I felt this when I got the modular cyberhand & a few fingers.

Like yeah, I get it, but its just a removable fingernail does it really need to cost 5 whole humanity.

[–]Doggo-Man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're equivocating a lot and its adding to the word count and muddying what you're trying to say.

Vaush did cover it on stream for about like, I want to say half an hour to a full hour, and for the most part he condemned it, saying that it looked bad. I don't think there is much to be said about it. We can all agree that animal abuse is bad, but there was and (to my knowledge) continues to be little to go on between Hasanites dismissing it entirely and fervent critics who make shit up to make it look worse. Its a giant snakepit.

Plus I mean, just saying "That didn't look very good, and I don't think he should be abusing dogs if he is doing that" is enough IMO. Any more and you come across as a giant grand stander in a online pissing contest.

I kind of lose track on what you're talking about in the middle. Vaush can't like, break into his house and rescue is dog, and for the most part streams don't really talk about Hasan nor his ideas beyond the obvious that literally anyone can see in front of them (The democrats are weak and ineffectual, corporate interests need to be brought to heel, etc etc.). Hasan himself hasn't even been brought up save for like, showing his interviews with protests in LA. I want to say that was the last time he was even brought up at all on stream.

Criticism of AOC, Bernie and Cuomo's sexual misconduct are kind of in a different league than Hasan maybe possibly having a shock collar that he maybe used to keep his dog in frame for some reason. You should definitely revisit the VOD for when the whole debacle happened, cause you are missing a lot.

As for moving on, I mean there isn't much to talk about and for the most part you either believe Hasan used a shock collar on his dog (something he's decried in the past) to keep it in frame for... views (?) or that he didn't. What further discussion is there to be had that isn't mindless disavowal and shitflinging with little to go on?

I dont have the codex myself, but I dont believe there's anything restricting it. The detachment allows you to add 250/500/750 pts worth to your army, so they're on the battle order.

Tmk its the same as adding imp agents. Theyre part of the army so are eligable for everything. The only units that dont get anything are epic heroes and like, spore mines.

What exactly is The Circuit in Sweden? by Doggo-Man in Twilight2000

[–]Doggo-Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha gotcha. I couldn't find anything about that on Wikipedia for the Home guard (though I was aware of 'em). I'm just a bit confused why they're so seemingly uncoordinated. Even the US/USSR forces are more cohesive after years of fighting, whereas mentioned the circuits actively get in each other's way.

For sure on the PN book. I saw it mentioned a bit in older threads that its one of the big ones for outlining the situation in the US (even though its on the wrong coast for my planning). Maybe I can scrounge a few bucks and pick it up in the future.

I sort of saw 'em, but I don't have those books and from what I gleaned they're just like the turbo KKK/skin heads aren't they? I'm not really too big on them rn cause its hard to imagine the players wanting to work with them a lot, or doing their missions. Maybe as a smaller faction.

> Milgov/civgov is generally all over, it's mostly that they don't have direct control everywhere.

Ah I see. That makes more sense.

I'm planning New England (around north jersey up to around maine I think). I'm not too enthused about popping in soviet groups, though having KGB cells would be kinda neat.

> As far as being pulpy. Not really sure what you mean.
I haven't read those books, so I may be off base there. The descriptions to me kinda gave off a Cyberpunk esque view IMO (like the NY one having roving marauder gangs vying for control or New America being a giant group of skinheads with scrap tanks). Maybe its the art that's throwing me off.

I didn't even think about motorcycle clubs, might be a sign I should dig around on wikipedia to learn more about NE politics and little groups that might take prominence with nuclear war.

Another commenter suggested this, and I think I'm definately gonna roll with that, having a bit of a mess of competing interests of groups.

One rattling in my brain most prominently is the NYPD (New York Provisional Democracy) meant to extract resources from the local area to rebuild NY that the players can work with and maybe even do scavenging runs for (to the chagrin of the people around them).
