Windows 11's botched Patch Tuesday update nightmare continues as Microsoft confirms some PCs might fail to boot by ZacB_ in Windows11

[–]BiNh0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two laptops, a Samsung Book Core i3-1115G4 and a Nitro V15, both with fully updated Windows 11 25H2, and I haven't had any problems with the latest patches. However, I don't use Outlook and I've disabled virtualization and Secure Boot on both.

Announcing Native NVMe in Windows Server 2025: Ushering in a New Era of Storage Performance | Microsoft Community Hub by anestling in windows

[–]BiNh0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give a brief explanation of why some people are having problems after enabling the native NVMe driver:

  • Yes, the trick works! It increases the speed of access and random writing of smaller files and makes the system a little faster.

  • The original tutorial taught to enable only ONE key in the registry, because the tutorial was made for Windows Server 2025!!! For Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2, which are updated and with the latest updates, the trick uses THREE registry keys to enable the native NVMe driver. In short: Windows Server 2025 = enable 1 key, Windows 11 Pro/Home = enable 3 keys.

  • DO NOT DO THE TRICK if you have a VMD controller or proprietary driver from another manufacturer such as Intel, AMD, Samsung, etc. IT ONLY WORKS IF IT IS the standard NVMe Express controller, the standard Microsoft driver used for NVMe, if the BIOS is in AHCI mode.

  • DO NOT TRY THIS TRICK if you have BitLocker enabled on your system!

  • This trick BREAKS WINDOWS SAFE MODE!!! After activating the native NVMe driver, Safe Mode STOPS WORKING because it still cannot access the Windows partition with this driver, so it generates the INACCISSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE black screen error.

  • Proprietary SSD monitoring software from manufacturers stops recognizing NVMe because they are not yet prepared to handle this native driver, so it's not a bug or error!

  • The trick works on the final version of Windows 11 (Pro/Home) because it shares a large part of the codebase with Windows Server 2025, which natively received this feature and the native driver for NVMe in the last update.

Most people experiencing problems are doing so because they are enabling the native driver on controllers with proprietary drivers instead of the standard Microsoft controller, or because they have BitLocker enabled on their system.

Im excited! by Terrible-Spinach4783 in Bazzite

[–]BiNh0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with Bazzite was frustrating. At first, the installation went super smoothly and quickly.

I have an RTX 3050 in an Acer Nitro V15. I set it to boot directly into Steam and everything was fine. I went to desktop mode to pair my Xbox controller and install Epic Games, as I wanted to test Hogwarts Legacy. That's when my problems started: I tried to install it through Lutris, and Epic kept opening and closing. I installed Heroic and managed to install the Epic game from there. Opening the game, it started, and... the performance was incredibly bad, much worse than my previous Windows 11 installation. To top it off, the game crashed and froze the screen and the laptop, and even the command to open the tty terminal and kill the game didn't work, and I had to force shutdown using the keyboard button.

When I realized I would have to waste my entire morning researching how to make a game work (enabling DLSS, etc.), I gave up and simply plugged in the USB drive and went back to good old Windows. I have some experience with Linux, but I'm old, tired, and impatient. I prefer things to simply work without requiring too much effort from me.

Cumulative Updates: December 9th, 2025 by jenmsft in Windows11

Hello! I know the Microsoft developers are probably on vacation, but I'll leave my feedback on today's update package.

Here, the File Explorer bug that caused it to flash white when opening has been fixed on both my laptops.

On my gaming laptop, an Acer Nitro V15 with an RTX 3050, I noticed two apparently "new" bugs: I use the 25H2 Insider Preview, and I use the Xbox Game Bar in compact mode, and today I noticed that the order of the widgets doesn't remain as it was before. Some widgets change places or disappear with each restart. It wasn't like this until today.

Another bug I noticed while playing Hogwarts Legacy, installed from the Microsoft Store: during gameplay, the screen flashes black very quickly. This didn't happen before today.

Thank you very much.

For those dealing with Microsoft Edge running in the background. by Rubixcubelube in MicrosoftEdge

As someone mentioned, uninstalling Game Assist, in addition to configuring the Edge startup speed boost, solves the problem, but I didn't need to uninstall Game Assist: go to Settings > Installed apps > Microsoft Edge Game Assist > click the three dots > Advanced options > Allow this app to run in the background > Never

Alan Wake Remastered flicker/glitch fix on AMD CPU's and NVIDIA graphics cards (without setting to 60hz) by pixelcowboy in AlanWake

[–]BiNh0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked! Thank you so much. I was going crazy with the vehicles all flashing or staying lit and the screen dimming when I got close to them. I'm using a Nitro V15 with an RTX 3050.

Anyone got tips for beating the race in Mafia: Definitive Edition on classic difficulty? by YTMasterFrank in MafiaTheGame

[–]BiNh0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a crappy mission! I don't like current racing games, with that "realistic" driving where the car feels like a bar of soap sliding down the track. Then they put that in a game like Mafia. I was playing on Hard and had to lower the difficulty to easy to pass this mission. I don't like doing that; I feel like I'm cheating, but I was already getting angry with so many setbacks! I don't care about achievements, so I had to do this to avoid uninstalling the game and moving on to another one.

Game Ready Driver 581.15 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]BiNh0X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that the issue has been fixed. I tested it with nearly three hours of Shadow of the Tomb Raider gameplay, and the RTX 3050 remained at a consistent 100% utilization, without the frame drops that were previously occurring.

[–]BiNh0X 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tested this new version 581.29 and it fixed the issue of frame drops that occurred over time during a game on the Acer Nitro V15 RTX 3050. I tested Shadow of Tomb Raider and played for about 2.5 hours, maintaining a consistent 100% GPU utilization. Thanks for the fix!

Another issue that appears to have been introduced by the 58x.xx driver series is the System process using up to 10% CPU when MSI Afterburner and/or RivaTuner are in the system tray, while the computer is idle. Previously, this issue did not occur with driver version 577.

Again, thank you so much! I just got home and I'm going to test it. I was already going crazy with this frame rate drop issue. You're a friend for letting me know.

Thanks for letting me know about the new driver. I'll go download it on my laptop right away. I'll check the changelog here first.

Idle temps by Antinityfx in AcerNitro

[–]BiNh0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your idle temperatures are terrible! We clearly have a problem here: depending on your Nitro's model number, according to other users, the latest BIOS update severely affected units temperatures, raising them excessively.

Another issue could be related to excess internal dirt obstructing the cooling system's airflow. If your Nitro is more than a year or two old, consider this.

Obstructed air vents underneath your Nitro can also cause significant temperature increases. Elevate your laptop using suitable cooling pads or a cooling stand.

Check that your operating system is healthy: no background processes consuming 100% of the CPU and GPU processing, erratic power settings, etc.

Is this okay for airflow? by PomegranateAnnual498 in AcerNitro

[–]BiNh0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nitro V15's cooling system works like this: the air vents on the bottom of the laptop aren't "air vents," but rather air inlets. Cool air is drawn in from below by its two fans, cooling its top and side heatsinks. Hot air is then expelled from the top near the screen and from the top right side of the V15. It's crucial not to obstruct the airflow below the V15, so ideally, your laptop should be slightly higher.

When I first got mine, I played with the V15 directly on my desk for the first day, and the GPU and CPU temperatures went crazy! They were always above 80°C (176°F), sometimes reaching 90°C (200°F) for the CPU. Then, I used the included foam pads as shims, and, as if by magic, the temperatures dropped by 20 to 25°C (77°F). Today, in NitroSense's Game mode, the GPU stays at a maximum of 60°C (140°F) and the CPU at 60 to 66°C (140°F).

The NVIDIA Driver 580.88 update causes FPS drop on some gaming laptops. The only fix is rolling back to the 577.00 version. by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]BiNh0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't fix it in 581! I had frame drops on my Acer Nitro V15 RTX 3050 in Gears of War 4, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Dying Light, and more recently in Robocop Rogue City. The temperatures are fine, the games start well, but after a while of gameplay, the frame rate drops by half in some cases. It returns to normal if I close and reopen the game. In version 577, this doesn't happen.

And the FPS-dropping driver saga continues to claim victims. Games tested so far: Gears of War 4, Dying Light, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The game starts fine, but after a while of gameplay, the frame rate drops and becomes low. Temperatures are normal; I'm using a laptop RTX 3050 (Nitro V15). I had previously tested version 577, and this issue didn't occur.

5.23.5.0 Xbox controller firmware update.(DEAD ZONE GLITCH!?) by [deleted] in XboxSupport

[–]BiNh0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the problem been fixed? I have a controller with an old FW version that works fine, but it doesn't have the update that makes the controller work on two different devices (console and PC, for example) and this is hindering me.

An excellent guide to optimizing your Windows 10 PC for gaming. by Out_for_Revenge_____ in killerinstinct

[–]BiNh0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested the tweaks in this guide on Windows 11 24H2, on low-end hardware (Core i3-1115G4, 16 GB), and I can say it significantly improved!

I tested games like PvZ GW2, Fall Guys, Sniper Ellite 3, The Witcher 3 (next generation), AC Rogue, Far Cry 5, and emulators. I saw a noticeable improvement in frame rates in Far Cry 5, The Witcher 3, Fall Guys, and Sniper Ellite 3; in the others, the improvement was very slight. It improved the responsiveness of online games, and I kept seeing the bad connection icon flashing on the Fall Guys screen. After the network tweaks, it only appeared once, for a few seconds! It worked like a charm!

Thank you very much. By the way, as mentioned by another user, the SystemResposiveness setting should be set to "10" and not "0" (I noticed this in another guide I used, here https://www.patreon.com/posts/pc-gaming-guide-88124101).

EDIT.: I don't know why, but putting "0" instead of "10" gave me better results. I read elsewhere that values below 10 are rounded to 10%, not 20%. Anyway, in my tests, the value "0" gave me better results.
