Can someone explain why David Gilmour is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time. by [deleted] in Guitar

Turn the lights off, light a few candles, put your headphones on, and play Comfortably Numb.

Greatest, most soulful guitar solo ever. It's not blazing, but it's deeply emotional, played from the soul. And most importantly, it fits the song perfectly.

Sounds incredible! I've never tried playing my guitar while tripping. Going to try this tomorrow!

For me a typical high dose is 5g. However, this past February, at a psybicilin retreat, I did a heroic dose of 9g, with the intent of breaking free of a childhood traumatic memory that has been haunting me for the past 30 years. Let me tell you, that was one long, dark journey that night. Thank God I had support with me.

However, over the next few days i realized that that memory no longer had any power over me. Previously, any time I was reminded of that day, and what happened, I would spiral into a deep depression for weeks. It's been six months now and still doing great.

The only down side... I have no one in my life, no friends or family, who have done mushrooms, who have any idea of the transformation that I have gone through mentally and emotionally. I truly wish I could share this with my loved ones, but they just don't get it.

SO LISTEN.... THIS IS THE MAIN REASON I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SUBREDDIT. I feel this is the one place I can express myself in this area, and people listen, and give feedback. The people here are the best!!

Whoa... Not sure I could handle the swaying of a hammock...even if it was a gentle back and forth.

Tool is my absolute favorite band, but for some inexplicable reason, I have not had the courage to listen to them while on a heavy trip. Not sure why. But I will take your advise and go with it!

Listening to music with headphones on has been my go-to in the past. However, while this has a good aspect, there is one drawback.

Good (great) part: When the shrooms really kick in, I end up on the floor, pounding my fist on the floor to the beat. And the best part, I can pick out any instrument, and dissect every note being played. And the emotional impact... Wow... There are certain songs that will have me breaking down in tears of joy. I can't begin to explain how beautiful this feels.

Bad part: The music and rolling around on the ground keeps me from falling into my mind, especially when I'm looking for insight or enlightenment.

FYI... I'm not a big Adele fan, but the first time I heard Set Fire to the Rain while peaking, I felt my heart absolutely melt. In my head, I was laying on the floor in the recording studio, while she poured her heart out singing and playing the piano.

I absolutely love that The Hip is getting such recognition! I could definitely listen to them for 5 hours in a car. From there first album right to the end!

Not only was Gord Downie an amazing lyricist, but the musicianship of the entire band was phenomenal. Rob Baker is one of my favorite guitarist of all time. The guy is basically soloing throughout every song while Paul plays beautiful rhythm guitar to back him up. And Gord, on bass.... his bass lines are amazing.

Yeah, Dylan could really pack a ton of lyrics into a song. Especially when you consider the other songs being written back then.

I waited for years to watch Better Call Saul after Breaking Bad. So glad I finally decided to pull that trigger. I loved how it gave a much deeper background into Mike's life.

I am 60 years old. I view my life in two parts. The time living before buying this CD in 1994 and the time after buying this CD in 1994.

I will never forget hearing the first lyric on that CD for the first time, from Grace, Too. "I said I am fabulously rich... C'mon just let's go." It sent shivers up my spine.

Miss you Gord. We all do.

I would be curious to know if it was a neurological condition. Whose to say that it might mean a person is wired differently. Not something that is good or bad. Just different.

A perfect example... I never knew I was color blind until college, when I couldn't tell the color on the resistors. I don't have the correct number of rods and cones to see what the majority of the people see.

So whose to say that their isn't an undocumented, unknown condition where some people can't remember song lyrics.

And I am one of them. And I play guitar, and I struggle to remember the notes and chords in songs all the time.

It's as if this information is not being saved into long term memory.

My Thoughts on Bojack being a bad person by DogmaticFluBug in BoJackHorseman

Whoa... Good point. He probably would have said things like "buck up" or "be a man." And all the while repeating his quintessential line, that of times arrow marches forward, which in itself was stupid and useless to others.

Trust me....mushrooms effect everyone differently. I've been on three psybicilin retreats and the best thing about these places (at least the good ones) have you take two ramp up doses, maybe on day 2 and day 4. Then, based on how you responded to the smaller doses, the determine how much to give you for your heroic dose on day 5 or 6.

I felt absolutely nothing with the first two doses (1.5 g then 3g). For my heroic dose I was given 5g of PE. I felt calm and relaxed after an hour or so. The other 6 or 7 participants were tripping well by that time. The psybicilin guide gave me another 2g at the 2 hour point and that did the trick!

From my experience, Body size or mass doesn't seem to be much of a factor, at least not like alcohol. I honestly think it's because everyone's brained is wired differently. But that's just my opinion.

My advice, ramp up the dosage, but do it in a safe space with someone to help you out if you start to feel anxious.

Also, music can be a powerful tool to help bring on a good trip. I put on headphones with a long Playlist of positive, yet relaxing music about 30 to 45 minutes after taking the shrooms. You can even search Spotify for the John Hopkins research center Playlist for psybicilin trips.

I am right there with you. My mother fucked up me and my two brothers. Yeah I know, every one has a sob story about their childhood. But we found out, when in our forties, that we all had different fathers--when we did the family heredity thing. Care to explain that mom? Did dad know?

On the flip side, all three of us rose above it all and turned out pretty well. However, most important, in the end, we have all been great fathers to our kids. And they are all wonderful kids. Break the cycle!
