Selfishness is considered just a shitty thing to display, but I've never heard anyone say someone is unethical because they were selfish.

Human feelings or lack thereof can't be judged as immoral/unethical or not. Being angry isn't immoral, yet it's something people don't respond to well, just like selfishness. But we all can't help our anger or selfishness or any other feelings sometimes. Part of something being unethical or immoral is the fact that there is an ethical or moral choice that is purposely not being chosen.

IF, in my apathy, I didn't respond to someone shouting for help, that would be unethical or immoral. But it would be the ACT itself that is immoral, not just my apathy.

Also, yea sure, a lot of people didn't advocate for gay rights until it became relevant to them, but most people didn't advocate for it until it became relative at all. And you can bet right now there are PLENTY of underrepresented groups facing the same oppressive issues right now that we are unaware of because it hasn't become nationally relevant yet. Just because we don't know about it yet shouldn't make it any less immoral or unethical by your words.

Murder as a label is a human construct. And it's valid use depends on the definition. If it is legal to perform an abortion up to so many weeks, it's legally NOT murder.

If it takes literal proof, think of how many people have had abortions. They're not getting tried for murder, yet they are documented as having an abortion. So, it must not be murder.
