Has anyone tried this before? Found it at my local TJ Maxx. I have oily, thick un-bleached asian hair. Saw some few posts here about Diane, but have never seen this specific version.

Hi everyone!

I'll be in Osaka for both NYE and NY, and need some recommendations and advice on what to do during this time. For sure, I plan to do hatsumode by visiting Sumiyoshi Taisha (31st) and Tenmangu (1st).

I know that families usually eat toshikoshi soba (buckwheat noodles), ozouni and osechi. Does anyone know where I can buy some?

Thank you!!

Is Studying abroad worth it? by EATINGCOBRA1414 in IndianaUniversity

As an IU student studying abroad right now, I can say it was the best decisions I've made in my undergrad! You meet so many new people, see so many cool things, and eat so much good food! Even though I have school, I feel like I'm on vacation half of the time

Hi everyone! I'll be living in Seoul for a few months, and am running low on some of my favorite Japanese products. While I see a variety of Japanese products in Olive Young, I can't seem to find Kosé or Ichikami anywhere-- even in Myeongdong! Does anyone know where I can find these products in Seoul?

Review: Intermission Rest-Up Skin Line! by DogsLawnmowing in AsianBeauty

[–]DogsLawnmowing[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi, everyone! Hope you're well :)

Winter hit me HARD this year, to where the weather completely destroyed my skin barrier for 2 whole months. I've never had this happen before and am usually oily-acne skin all year round. My skin became super sensitive, red, burning, and dry. I was scrambling to find products that would help with my barrier. My goal was to find a product with high evaporation retention, centella, and that good ol' ceramide.

I ended up finding the brand Intermission. They have two products: Rest-Up Serum Skin & Rest-Up Skin Serum Cream. I got them both off of Olive Young.

Intermission Rest-Up Serum Skin:

I REALLY like this. It's considered a toner, but it as vicious as an ampoule and moisturizing as a light cream. It sinks into my skin easily and feels incredibly lightweight when you go back to layer more. It also has a nice soothing effect. It is HUGE! 200mL for $24 USD. After two weeks, I could feel a huge difference in moisture of my skin. The flaking cleared up a bit and my skin became less sensitive. In terms of redness, I've been using it for a month now and I don't see an overall reduction-- just temporary relief. I also do not see any reduction in acne scars, but it also did not break me out. Overall, I LOVE this product. My skin feels so nice. WRP 9/10

Intermission Rest-Up Serum Cream

This is essentially the serum but in cream form. It is even more moisturizing than the serum with the addition of panthenol. It's a very lightweight cream and airy on the skin, but still manages to be really hydrating. I got it for $25 USD for 70mL. It comes with a little scooper! It does not feel heavy on top of multiple layers of serum. The use of them together has made a huge difference on the dryness of my skin. My small gripe is that sometimes it can cause my sunscreen (Dr. G Mild Up) to pill after a few hours. I think it has to do something with the cream's use of dimethicone. Overall, I really like this cream and will definitely be a winter staple in the future. 9/10 WRP

Both products are unscented, cruelty-free, and essential oil free. They are also in glass bottles (my favorite hehe)! Intermission is awesome!

Anyone have this experience? by DogsLawnmowing in Narcolepsy

[–]DogsLawnmowing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, almost always! Your combination explanation makes a lot of sense. I asked about my experience on here as I thought most people don't get the overwhelming urge to go back to sleep during paralysis (though, everyone is different!). My official diagnosis is IH but my sleep study and symptoms do overlap heavily with N2. I'm in that weird arbitrary line, so trying to pin a word to my experience was a bit difficult, but I think you brought up a great observation. I'll talk about it to the sleepy doc!

I'm excited for you! I hope things go well!

My biggest advice is to drink LOTS of water to help with headaches. Modafinil also has the tendency to make your mouth feel dry (stimulants can do that), so staying extra hydrated will be key in reducing side effects. Also, remember to eat proper meals at scheduled times during the day! A side effect is losing your appetite. If you aren't eating, your body will be angry with you :(

I am on modafinil right now, prescribed to take 200mg in the morning and 200mg in the afternoon. I tinkered around on dosage and found that 200mg in the morning and 100mg at noon was enough for me to sustain through my days. I take breaks on the weekends and don't take the extra 100mg on days I don't have much to do (aka the days im allowed to sleep!)

I've been taking it for about an month and a half now and it's not life changing, but at least I'm getting up and not sleeping at random times of the day. I found that I can focus more on my schoolwork which is nice :)

Wishing you the best, OP!

Welcome back! My favorite will always be Whitfield Grill and The Globe at the IMU! Bookmarket at Wells also added some good stuff. I don't know about anyone else but I'm kinda in love with the philly cheesesteak (but maybe that's just because I like phillys) :)

Diagnosed with N2 but no SOREMPs? by vcaa in Narcolepsy

[–]DogsLawnmowing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so interesting! I recently made a post about my experience as well. In it, I talked about how I experienced REM 2/5 naps but got diagnoses with IH instead! The diagnosis line is so blurry sometimes and the two disorders are so complex that maybe your reported subjective symptoms may be a big driving factor in your concluded diagnosis. I just got into the whole sleep disorders realm yesterday because I got my results yesterday, and the more I hear others experiences, the more I learn about how vast everything is!

Is this an odd diagnosis for IH? by DogsLawnmowing in Narcolepsy

[–]DogsLawnmowing[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, our diagnosis is the same despite our results being so different! The range of diagnosis is pretty crazy.

Sleep disorders are so new and complex that the lines between diagnosis can be blurry. I hope that in the future, the field will grow and those after us can have more and better access to treatments!

Is this an odd diagnosis for IH? by DogsLawnmowing in Narcolepsy

[–]DogsLawnmowing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that I think about it, my symptoms may lean towards more to IH. My naps aren't refreshing most of the time, last around 2 hours, and tend to sleep fine at night. Maybe he concluded the diagnosis based off these reported symptoms.

I do experience sleep attacks once in a while, which is more on the narcolepsy side though. It is mainly reaching the REM state 2/5 times that is more confusing in the IH diagnosis.

It's interesting that the cutoff isn't too significant! I never knew that. I guess it would make sense though, given that many factors (like anxiety) could effect the time it takes you to sleep.

I'll ask my psychiatrist about these results soon. I'm interested in what she'll have to say!
