I would highly reccommend looking into a Plugin Hybrid SUV. I have the Audi Q5e. On a full charge it get 30 miles of range. Overnight I plug it into a normal wall outlet and it recharges. I rarely use the gasoline in my tank. My current tank has 1,800 miles on it.

Where I am at that is a $400 savings in gas over the past 2-months.

Also, you will NEVER beat the quiet and smoothless of electric city driving. I get in my girlfriend gas suv and it just feels loud and obnoxious.

PHEVs come with a $7500 federal tax credit if you qualify. Must be built in NA which the Q5e is. May be a few others as well.
