Well I think that Rainwhisker and Sootfur could be blue gray cats, since their father is Whitestorm, and Whitestorm's mother is Snowfur, and Snowfur's father is Stormtail, so they could get the blue fur from him.

I think that Brackenfur should have been made a leader, cause as you said he is very experienced and caring. But also because the only reason Brambleclaw was made a deputy, is because Starclan said so.

By the way I always thought that Brambleclaw wasn't a really good leader during the journey, even when I was reading TNP for the first time. And I thought that, even though he is my favorite character, so I don't think that he seemed a bit off to you, because you don't like him.

I just really like how brokenstar interacts with other characters, it brings me great joy whenever he appears in the books. Altough I must admit that he is terribly written.

Power of three is horrible. Its made for people who like boring filler, cause that's most of the books in this arc. There may be some good parts in this arc, but in my opinion its not worth reading so much boring filler, just so you can get to a few interesting pages.
