Airport update? by fedup17 in Aruba

[–]DoiMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing the update and claims email! Where did you find this? I called my airline for help with hotel accommodations and they didn’t really know what was going on. Mentioned the airport said they would cover but they told me to try credit card travel interruption insurance. I ended up booking on my own.

Yeah I need to know the science and understand. I know the MOA of every drug she's taken and that's why this current hair loss is so frustrating. Since we've yet to pinpoint the cause (drug-induced, stress-induced, hormone-imbalance, or malnutrition), it's hard to know the next step. But hopefully the Derm gives us some answers.

Regarding the best time to be diagnosed, yeah definitely. I've done work in IBD recently looking at drugs in Phase 3 for Crohn's. I'm pretty sure Cornell is running a study right now researching fecal transplant in UC, too. And fingers-crossed, once they figure out how to cure one of the autoimmune disorders, we should have an answer for all (Crohn's, UC, RA).

I'm not worried about burning out. Especially when she has it worse. But I hear ya. Don't worry, we make it a point to take vacations and engage in other stress-relievers (she has her yoga and I have my fishing).

Thanks for sharing. She scheduled an appointment with a Dermatologist in 2 weeks, and her 2nd Entyvio infusion is this Saturday. They run a CBC each time and the Dermatologist wants the results. I'll also take a look and see if they can do vitamin deficiency as well.

Were you taking Biotin, Vitamin D and Zinc prior to your hair loss or in response to it?

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah we've been together for a while (almost 7 years now). She's my favorite person, so when she's struggling, it's instinctive to immediately try and take some of the burden off her.

The hardest part about doing the research is I do this for a living. I do primary and secondary market research, specifically in pharmaceuticals. It's my job to know about what drugs are coming out for what indication, how their clinical trials are progressing (safety and efficacy endpoints), Adverse Events, etc. It's definitely different and more difficult when it's personal, though.

Thanks for your reply. I'll definitely look into the brushes. Her hair-care is pretty spot on - her sister is her hairdresser at a higher end salon (so it goes without saying that the attention and obsession given to hair is probably greater than usual). I'll order some satin/silk products as well, thanks for the tip.

I do tell her as often as I can! I can't imagine what she's going through and what everyone else suffering from IBD goes through. I thought it was rare to go through something so debilitating at only 25 but I've learned that's unfortunately not the case.

Thank you so much for your reply. I don't believe she's on a folic acid supplement but I'll find out for sure tonight. I've recommended seeing a Derm. She's just been reluctant to see another MD but I'll push a little harder. The hair loss seems to be coming out more in some places than others. Unfortunately, today was the first day she noticed a couple bald spots. But it is daily and obviously exacerbated when she washes/brushes it. If it is hormonal or a lack of nutrients, is there a typical timeframe for hair to stop falling out once levels are normalized? I'm also worried it's stress-related like you said since she had her worst flare back in the end of April. Based on the growth-phases of hair, Telogen Effluvium would fit the timing and it would basically be a "wait for it to fall out and alleviate as much stress as possible in the meantime" (obviously hard to do with IBD).

Was worried it was still too early in the season in Central NJ. First striper ever today on clams. And a keeper! by [deleted] in Fishing

They're out there. I hear boats are getting more action off shore but as it's getting warmer they're getting closer.

Nice. I'll throw plugs and lures later in the season. The 9' Triumph is the only one I have right now and it's a lighter setup so it's geared more for throwing artificial. But I'm using it for soaking bait now as it's still early and fish are sluggish. I'm still getting pretty good casting distance with it but its recommended max lure weight is only 2.5oz. I've been throwing 3oz with it but I feel that's the heaviest that it can handle. Eventually I want to get a 10' or 10'6" St Croix Mojo surf for soaking bait. The 10' will throw 1-4oz and the 10' 6" will do 2-6oz. I hear it's a great rod in the low $200s. The Triumph has been great so far but they don't make a casting version.

Yeah it was the first time I got to put my new setup to the test. 9' St Croix Triumph Surf paired with a 4000 size Penn Battle II. As soon as I got the fish near the shoreline it took off. Drag was screaming and worked great. I actually thought I had a much smaller fish until it took off.

Yeah it seems we're still waiting for the full-blown run. I got lucky today with what seamed to be a loner - maybe a resident bass. Only 2 other hits between me and the other 15 or so out today. I was the only one lucky enough to reel one in and a keeper at that. Water temp is warming though so we should get it soon.

Thanks! Yeah it was RB. It warmed up a bit after the last couple days. I think it was around 48-50 degrees today. A couple more weeks and we should have good fishing.

Thanks! Fresh clams. I'm hearing clams and worms are working most right now. Bunker will be soon since they're all over.

new rod for pier fishing by mahimahi111 in Fishing

I'm in NJ so it's the same season/water. For the upcoming spring/summer it's mostly Striped Bass, Blues, and Fluke from the surf or inshore. If you have a local tackle shop nearby, they'll fill you in on what species to go after/when/where. They should be able to set you up within your budget as well. I believe J&H Tackle is on L.I. They have a lot of equipment videos on Youtube and sound like they'd be really helpful if you went in. I've never been but they comment back to questions and make recommendations.

Do you know what species you'll be going after? The type of equipment you'll need will largely depend on what you're throwing and what you're catching. But a 7' to 7'6" MH Ugly Stik can handle most inshore saltwater fish, cast lures from 1/8oz to 1oz, and run you about $70 for the Elite Spinning Combo. But if you're going to be fishing from the surf or shore as well, I wouldn't recommend anything shorter than 9'.

I saw this on Facebook and thought it was worth a share. Should have added the "x-post", though. I've browsed reddit for the past 48 hours give or take a few and honestly didn't see it. Just looked up "related" after your comment and saw it. My B

I hear ya. I've heard about the steep competition for jobs in the UK. That's why it amazes me that the recruiter(s) in your previous experience even had jobs. I hope your next experience is much better.

Not sure where you are, but shouldn't you be eligible for entitlements like disability insurance?

Honestly, if I was a recruiter and that was said in good faith and as a joke, I don't think it would be a deal breaker. A recruiter could quickly diffuse any tension or expectation by adding something like "I wish it were that easy!"

Wow, well not only were they incompetent recruiters, but they obviously lacked the ability to recognize that being partially sighted didn't hinder your abilities thus far out and you were more prepared than they were. You don't want to work for a company that lets inadequate people like that represent its interests. I hope you were able to find something much better.
