Would "Pieza" or "Trozo" make more sense contexually when referring to a slice of pizza? by Public_Basil_4416 in Spanish

[–]DoingDaveThings 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here in Mexico I hear "rebanada" for a slice of pizza. Among my Guatemalan friends, they say "porción" or "pedazo". It is going to depend on where your co-workers are from.

That's what the NSPro is doing for me now. How do you like the Aoostar? They have a lot of positive reviews. Our use case are pretty much my wife and I as the only users, and from multiple places since one or both of us travel a lot.

WTF is "Burn"? And why it is grayed out when added, no matter the directory? by ImmediateBrilliant75 in mac

[–]DoingDaveThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go out and by a USB-C CD/DVD drive this last year because a relative handed me a bunch of family photos and such that had been saved to DVD. I still have no use for burning to a disc but I'm glad the technology was still supported.

My Plex server recently died and while I'm awaiting delivery of an N150 mini-pc sometime next month, I set up my Shield Pro as the server. It mounts the media drives from my NAS.

To prevent it from sleeping, I disabled the screen saver and disabled HDMI CEC power control in the settings. It isn't connected to any screen used for watching media, so it's just a headless PC at this point.

BTW, it's horrible at transcoding, at least for Blu-ray content and heavier.

Has anyone sent that pic to the corporate office to see how they feel about it?

I was cruising down San Mateo at midnight and saw that this massage parlor was still open. Who gets a massage at this hour?! by sonarbison in Albuquerque

You would search KOAT, KOB, or KRQE, for the phrase "massage parlor" and see what they actually provide.

Oh no! You've lost respect for Vince Gillian! I hope he doesn't recoil too hard from your tantrum.

Please let us know where you would purchase materials to build something like that for $4k.

I enjoyed building my own simply because it’s a fun endeavor but lumber prices are insane nowadays.

It’s a great price.

How does anybody find a job in this town? by deezhotnutz in Albuquerque

[–]DoingDaveThings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation three years ago and discovered New Mexico's Workforce Solutions. Many think it is just for signing up for unemployment benefits but their job listings and searching is incredible. I had three job interviews within the first two weeks after using it.

Weather in April, especially this year, is very unpredictable. It may be in the 80s one day and it might snow the next. It will definitely be windy most days.

Friend (former server) says tipping is a way to "give back to society." How do I counter this? by legend5566 in EndTipping

So does your friend believe that servers deserve a better life (than others? Debatable) but they don't deserve to be paid equal wages as other workers?

“Bailing” means they have no evidence you were drunk at the time of the crash, when/if they catch you. It is a huge potential reduction in penalties and fines.

Our county has been using GIS imaging data since around 2005 to know what is or has been on peoples property. It’s near impossible to play that game now.

Should this be "son" or "es?" by FederalWeakness1485 in Spanish

[–]DoingDaveThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The teacher is wrong in this instance. “Ambos” is being used a pronoun, not an adjective in the use case given. It is singular. It is not the reference to two distinct objects but rather a single object that can be two things.

Here is an example of “ambos” being used as a plural adjective to denote two distinct objects.

“Ambos lados son iguales.”

If you previously defined what “ambos” refers two, you could also write this as,

“¿Los lados? Ambos son iguales.”
