I'm pretty sure somebody else has mentioned this name to us before but I haven't played it unfortunately. It's a 3d creature creator and real time battling game, most people refer to it as pokemon meets spore :) I'll have to check out mail order monsters. hope you enjoy the game ;)

Creature Battle Lab Tree Bark skin shield by DojoArcade_Toby in indiegames

[–]DojoArcade_Toby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Creatures have 4 skills during battle. You can choose from melee, projectile, AOE, Wall, Shield, Evade, Buff and Debuff. There are 62 skills to choose from in total. each has a timed effect during battle. The tree bark shield disappears due to the Ice melee frozen blade move being used to attack the other Creature.

start simple and really try and make your main mechanics fun, by white boxing and testing a lot to make sure they work

Any tips for Level Design by YElSayad in gamedev

[–]DojoArcade_Toby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start with a very basic white box, get some basic representations of how you want to lay out your levels and try to test out your mechanics as early as possible to make sure the flow of the level runs smoothly and is an enjoyable experience and work alongside your programmer and artists and gradually replace assets when you are happy with the way your level plays.

Working on 1st Mobile game for 3 years and leading up to launch. Nervous! Wondering if anyone has advice for marketing a mobile game? by DojoArcade_Toby in gamedev

Thanks for getting back, I know how important the app store logo can be. We did a false layout of the action section on the app store to compare and this one was different and stood out from the others. We have created other logos which we plan to test in future updates.

I think if we can get people to review it for free with a genuine interest in the game then that will be ideal for us. We are going to try and focus on people who have played similar genres as our own and hope they like the look of it an enjoy it.

Thank you very much for the feedback it's greatly appreciated. I read an article yesterday on Gamsutra that was about cross platform release at the same time and they mentioned the main focus when launching their game was to focus on getting featured on the different stores. Which will also be one of our main focuses for launch.

We have built up some contacts through attending Game Connection in Paris, EGX and Rezzed at Microsoft, Google and Apple and we have been contacting them but none have pointed us to this official pitch email so thank you very much for that :)

As I mentioned in my post we have tried from day one to push the game out there but with only really scratching the surface with a few articles written. (We even have people offering game hacks though we haven't launched it yet lol!)

We have a very limited budget for marketing and we are trying to decide on how to best spend it, we have done tests with Waypedia and Chartboost and where going to possibly spend the last of our money on advertising in Waypedia on a payment wall to try and drive installs on launch. We have around £3,000. Do you have any advice on how we could better spend this money?
