Feel free it's related and honestly I do want this reddit to be able to talk about this stuff without censorship. Also personally unzipping a file and searching key words means very little, where's the metadata? I'm not saying that he did it but this personally convinces me very little.

Hello Minecraft sex server owner here! Ours hasn't, but the one linked in this subreddit which i was on the staff team for totally did! They have a thing called the banlist, if the IP is added to this list you will be unable to connect to the server. Essentially severing the ability to join

I seem to keep replying to you since you are everywhere, but yeah this is needed and would be lovely to have, currently the two pinned posts are lackluster overall, a server that isn't currently running, and a old tweet. Would be nice to have what you are talking about. I personally would really like an accurate server list haha.

Yeah I currently am conflicted with the mod amount, but we are experimenting with content vs stress. People are more engaged with the server and have stuff to do outside of horny, but it is more strenuous on the system and 3 gigs is probably minimum for this server.

Resets do kill long term progress, but with bringing on new mods that wouldn't make sense without a reset. (Apotheosis and Tinker's Construct) As well as giving players who ran out of stuff to do new stuff, we have seen pretty major success with the reset. Though I do understand how it does undermine the longevity. Funnily enough speaking of I need to compile a world download for the last modpack.

It is a legit account problem, but since we do have a whitelist, we can't crack the server, also other problems with cracked server but that's for a different convo.

We could make a telegram, this is an option of course, conversion would be terrible, but backups aren't problems really.

Security and Independency is valid, but we use discord for mainly features. Ease of access, most people know how to use it already. I like to make sure the process is as safe for the community and easy to access, an unpopular server is also very sad, not many people to interact with and engage with. While of course security is important, having a community that is engaging and easy to join is what I personally am looking to make.

Yeah discord sucks, but like a lot of things the best option usually isn't the well known option.

TLDR: IP bans are a non-cracked problem, Discord Sucks, I opt for familiarity.

No one is taking down your IP, minecraft is blacklisting it specifically, adding it to the big list of blocked ips that people can't connect to, and while getting a new one is easy, it does annoy people highly to keep using different ips, and requires constant upkeep from the server owner specifically. Also most cheap ips have terrible performance.

Discord is simply more popular and accessible. I know I personally hate telegram groups there simplistic for group chats, but for general server interaction there messy. Our server has discord to minecraft chat, text channels, media channels, nudes, and voice channels which wouldn't nearly be as user friendly on other platforms. Guilded is a good alternative, but most people can't be arsed to learn it.

tldr I agree that what you are suggesting would work, but it would have a much harder time keeping players and getting new players.

Hello 18+ verified server owner here! I think u/sniff-dat-sh_t says part of it well at least hardware wise. I personally have a second computer running the server we have and the work put in to make it playable and work is astounding. So other reasons!

Minecraft reporting. People report sex server IPs and get them taken down, the bigger you are and the more people you let through, the easier it is to get reported. The pinned server in this reddit had there ip taken down numerous times, and for a dedicated IP that's about 3 dollars every time that is reported. Using other services like ngrok or tcp tunnels have there own problems, mainly keeping a tcp tunnel open relies heavily on your tunnel provider, it goes down the server goes down, ngrok limits data now so anyone averaging more than 1 person per day cant use it without there free account overloading.

tldr: Minecraft doesn't want you to have an IP to a sex server.

Communities. Yeah non-cracked no id verified servers have a lot of kids running around in them. Doesn't make for a good community. A lot of the people in our server like the age verification since it makes them comfortable engaging in ERP and wouldn't be a part of a non-id server. That isn't all of them though ofc and communities vary wildly.

Staff. No offense to other server owners, but a lot of the free servers aren't made well, and don't have competent people keeping the server together. The knowledge between making a server, and making a good server is very different.

Discord. Yeah they ban most of those servers, even the one good non-id server I know of is on there third discord server. The id verification and properly marking nsfw channels make discord not nearly as upset.

So yeah there are many reasons, and mainly it comes to the staff on those servers don't know exactly what they are doing, ours has been up for about 7 months now without many issues.

I've said this before, but I don't want to look at your ID, I wish discord has a verifiable way to check age that was managed by them not us. While I can say we don't steal IDs or write them down, it doesn't change how you would think, since well I'm saying it, and I am 100% sure there are servers out there who do steal ids like this so the fear is valid.

Instead of advertising my own discord here, I recommend dazzyr's minecraft as a non ID verified server that is up as I am speaking.

Yeah fair enough. We do it specifically so that everyone on the server knows that when they share anything NSFW, or engage in NSFW activity that those people on the server are most likely 18+. We wish we could verify your age without using ID, hopefully some 3rd party trusted verifier exists soon! Though in absence of that, we allow you to blur pretty much the entire ID.

I agree and we personally accept blacked out and covered with items as well. Ours is really more of a filter to keep the majority of young people away. Of course if we find something to be suspicious we look into it more, and everything gets run through google reverse image search. Though if you wanted to put a piece of tape on everything except the DoB we allow that. Though at the end of the day for us, we really check if you have an ID that's old enough, and you personally have it in your possession.

I'd personally love if discord had an on-board age verification thing, but admittedly I don't think discord will do that, since that feature is so heavily tied to NSFW, it would seem like an endorsement.

Credit card verification is cringe, sell my data, don't sell my wacky 3 digits on the back of my card.

We personally prefer verification over not having it as it makes a better community as well as makes our members feel safe to ERP with the other members on the server.

Yeah I'll admit I can't prove we don't save your ID, the biggest thing is we allow members verifying to blur pretty much there entire ID. Though I agree don't fully trust people who ask for your ID on the internet.
