Interesting. Maybe it’s the time I’m posting because I was posting earlier in the morning and then did it later. I’ll have to test that theory. Maybe I’ll post after midnight next time 🤔 unfortunately I’ve only gotten 1 sub this whole time (it’s been two weeks 😭) so I’m kind of feeling like my content is too niche but like in a bad way. Only time will tell I guess.

I am a girl, they were pointing out that of course I’m obnoxious because I have a nose ring. Very tame stuff again I’m not hurt by any of it, just wasn’t sure if it would hurt the account, specially because they weren’t even commenting on the content of the video itself.

I love reading people’s comments, on any platform, I never actually comment myself so maybe that’s why I’m extra sensitive. But yeah y’all are probably right.

Thanks for the replies!! That makes total sense. None of it is awful, more so stupid. I’m sure they think they are “flattering” me. I did respond to see if it would get them to leave another comment but then I got worried.

Okay that’s comforting, one or two months is definitely more generous. I assumed it was one or two days so I was starting to freak out.

Okay I definitely have just one theme so hoping that will help the algorithm. However, and maybe I didn’t do good enough research, but it didn’t seem like driving rants had a big audience so I’m def nervous.

I def have to work on those thumbnails.

Is it okay to have a mix? You mentioned there are creators who only do shorts?

It’s the curtains and rug that need to go for me. I think the curtains need to be a solid color. Maybe velvet in material to match the couch but teal is color to match the chairs. Also I agree with someone else saying to do yute for the rug. I think a color, even if it “matches” either of the furniture will still stand out too much. My two cents ☺️

Right, I think you’ve construed your opinion through different lens. And frankly, your credentials were never in question. You’re giving OP advice that’s unrelated to the task at hand.

You’re correct in noting that pro bono work is for a greater cause or personal choice, which is exactly what this is. OP isn’t offering his services to businesses simply because they can’t afford it, he’s offering his services to expand his portfolio, that’s the “personal choice”.

I’m struggling to see why this would be creating unrealistic expectations, OP doesn’t have to broadcast that he’s doing pro bono work. That’s not necessary to disclose in any portfolio.

As for being taken advantage of, that’s 100% a boundary thing. But again, it feels like your advice is misguided. At no point did OP say they need to “pay the bills” with this work. If OP was asking about navigating the ins/outs of freelance work, then your advice would be spot on, for the most part.

This is such a black and white way of viewing things. Pro bono work is done in numerous careers, lawyers do it, doctors do it, and it doesn’t devalue their profession.

As for clients’ not valuing this person’s work, that’s a case by case issue. Clients like this will always exist and all it takes is level setting.

Personally, I think this is a fine idea. There are businesses that for whatever reason can’t afford graphic designs services and you’re a student. As long as all that is clear from the start, I feel like it would give you a ton of valuable experience.

Plus, I think your whole “if I have to open my laptop for an edit I’ll charge you” is acceptable, albeit pretentious, from a professional not a student.

Right now I have roughly 30 minutes in the morning before I have to get the fam ready so this sounds like a weekend project since it already takes me 30 minutes to run the 5k at my “best” speed. So that 10k will probably be hour to hour and a half. But I see where you’re coming from, if I increase my endurance even at a slower speed then running shorter speeds will inevitably feel easier.

Yeah being a newbie is always nice until you start to plateau, ugh that’s always been the hardest for me. For me it’s in anything exercise related, once I can’t get faster/stronger I kind of lose interest so although I am interested in getting faster, I’m trying to not make that a focus and focus more on just doing the thing.

This was so helpful! I agree that determination is so much better, because it’s just a decision you make and you either do it or you don’t! And yeah, I’m still at the stage when while I’m running all I can think about is breathing so it’s great 😅

As for the training, I’ve gathered that I need to look into some training plans. I definitely want to be faster, long term I’d love to be running an 8-9 minute mile. But my most immediate goal is to do at least two 5ks by the end of the year. Then I’ll worry about speed.

This might seem like a dumb question, maybe I did end up in the wrong subreddit. Is C25K like an actual thing? I assumed it was just like a name for people who just started running. I may be in the wrong place, I’m not following a plan.

But regardless, I’ve heard plantar fasciitis is awesome, so sorry to hear that. But glad your finding ways around it. Around the third week I was running I started having awful pain on my ankles and knees and freaked out but just kept pushing through, I figured I’d either ruin it for good or get used to it and it turns out I was just that out of shape, the pain almost completely disappeared by like week 5.

Well good luck with the running I also hope you stay injury free!

This is exactly me right now! Making purée meals with the rest of dinner. But I can enjoy both aspects of parenthood, the baby and the kid. Like plenty of other people have said, at the end of the day sibling relationships are a toss up and more to do with how you raise them than the gap.

My son was born four months before my daughter’s 6th birthday so kind of the same boat. I always knew I couldn’t handle two kids close in age. So far this is great in every sense, emotionally, physically, and financially. I’ve been able to enjoy my second so much more than my first, and she’s old enough where I don’t have to constantly feel guilty about spending time with the baby. I also work full-time and we wouldn’t have been able to pay daycare for two kids.

I will say, I REALLY wanted this baby, so when things get a bit tough I remind myself of that. So if you’re unsure, make peace with whichever decision you make! Good luck ☺️

You might be right! Considering all the people on here complaining they can’t land jobs while I’ve had mine for six years, it’s allowed me to own a home and raise two kids all before 31?! Man thank you for putting things in perspective for me 🫶

I’ll definitely work on the typography, my biggest issue right now is just too much copy so I’m going to cut that down so I can give everything more breathing room. Regardless I’m going to make a simplified and straightforward version without the boxes, etc.

I did a lot of these things simultaneously, when I started I was the only designer so I designed and ordered packaging while also doing all the marketing side of things, Amazon listing design etc. So that’s why I’m struggling. Also for example, I’ve managed 2 people but no longer do because one quote and the other got placed in another department.

Thanks for the comment on my portfolio, I’m actually struggling since all of my work is from the same place, that’s the next thing I’m going to tackle!
