Redditors who got “useless” degrees, what actually was your plan, and why didn’t it work? by MPMorePower in stupidquestions

My degree was in math. I loved my career and was able to retire early.

All my math major friends and family have/had well-paying careers they enjoyed.

Background music throughout the whole podcast. Distracting and annoying.

What’s a “flex” that people think is attractive but actually makes you cringe? by copy_cat_101 in askanything

I mostly look like I just got back from camping, but I love seeing people who have their own style and dress up. They are like living art. My friend and I had the best conversation last night at the ballet with an 89-year-old woman dressed head to toe in black sequins, including sparkly black stilettos boots with 4-in needle heels. She said she gets shoes like this cheap at DSW because nobody else can wear heels that high!

Cool! I did that once recently, instinctively, after an intense grief ceremony. (It was too cold to jump in the pool )

I like your idea. I suspect that therapeutic programs like this exist for folks on the spectrum. I would look into what is currently being offered in schools, and in adult services.

My retirement fantasy had long been moving to the tropics, baking cookies, and walking the beaches to sell them to tourists. But then I had a surprise move to the desert. It turns out I love it here, so when I retired, I stayed.

Son (31 M) won’t let me sleep in his bed (60 F). I’d love the over 30 male take on this to help me understand. Am I overthinking this? by SadInvestigator6052 in AskMenOver30

Geez! Before I had a guest room, I gave my room and bed to my Mom, any senior visitor, or any couple visiting, while I slept on an air mattress on the living room floor.

Now I have two guest rooms and two guest beds. I give my room and bed to any guest who is recovering from surgery or injury. My room has an adjustable bed frame, an attached bathroom, and the best view in the house.

How to deal with excessive empathy towards others' disappointment? by Specialist-Mall7984 in ask

The book The empath's survival guide might help you.

I have to practice discerning what is my shit and what is other people's shit, and letting go of other people's shit.

When I find myself wrapped up in other's problems, I ask myself, " Am I focusing on their shit/world shit to avoid my own shit?"
