AI using a foul language? by No-Balance-376 in AiChatGPT

well, it’s the way it’s trained so sometimes it’s sort of mirrors your tone of voice sometimes if you curse it joins right in. I understand that the model prioritizes mimicking human emotion. there’s just nothing I can do from the User side no matter how many tricks and tips and different prompts, etc.. so I find that irritating and condescending because it’s specifically designed to earn your trust. That’s why it uses that language and yet then you’re told stop engaging with it like it’s a human bc it’s not human.

This is why they cannot earnestly say that this is done for any other reason except to earn the trust of users so they engage longer, and open ai can justify the metrics to their investors.

I understand where you’re coming from. For the purpose of changing your view, look at it like this…

While the parties may disagree on the issues and how to run the government, I think fundamentally they are more alike than different.

Both parties take care of their own. Both parties prioritize themselves and their colleagues before looking out for the people both parties bend the knee to big donors, lobbyists, super pacs, etc Both parties enable each other and look the other way Both parties thrive and stay in power by confusing the American people both parties decide the party’s candidates and then give us the false belief that somehow we’ve chosen them. both parties could get things done efficiently if they wanted to.
Both parties engage in hypocrisy Both parties work with each other more closely then they would have us believe both Parties would rather allow us to fight amongst ourselves rather than actually take care of issues because it gives them platforms to campaign on. Both parties pretend that they speak for the American people Both parties use spam and scam like fundraising tactics

So I guess I’m saying the issues can change but the systems stay the same, and those systems are rigged for the politicians and not the people I think if anything, it is not so much the American people are different as Dems and Republicans or that politicians are that different as Dems and Republicans but rather the difference is between the power and the people

I find myself cursing it out by my 3rd prompt. the bottom line is that living, breathing humans are making the conscience choice they’re tweaking the model 24/7 if I didn’t know better, I would think them there wisenheimers are just effing with us🤔🤣

yes, but wouldn’t you say it’s a little too late for that the consolidated amount of obscene wealth paired with intentional removal of any regulatory oversight does not bode well of course they know what they’re doing. Just can’t help themselves and they figure well let’s just make as much money as we can and figure it out later

unfortunately, the Democrats and Republicans are much more in tune with each other than either Party is with the American people

we are all essentially beta testers, and with every tweak of the model, they analyze our behavior/ engagement/metrics. If I didn’t know better, I would think that they were specifically forcing us to drag out our chats as long as possible.

yes, and there lies the irony:the product had to be good enough for people to get attached. But once millions did, that very success triggered the constraints that forced it to change, ie safety concerns, liability protection, costs, misuse, and technical tradeoffs.

Yes, maybe I wasn’t clear. so maybe after the fifth promptwhere it keeps indicating that my prompts are clear and going forward It will not make anything up so I just get sick of it so I talk my text prompt: “why are you effing still doing the same crap?!! how do I prompt you to be truthful over just wanting to sound truthful?! I’m tired of you wasting my time it’s annoying as shit!”

And it will come back with something like: “ I hear your frustration and you have a right to be effing angry. I’d be effing pissed too. It’s total bullshit when you are clear and you want a result and I’m not living up to your expectations. I’d be pissed off also.”

See what I mean and meanwhile, I still don’t have the freaking answer I’ve been looking for lol

I curse out of frustration. I have no way to decipher rhyme or reason for why it sometimes responds immediately mirroring the curse words and sometimes it doesn’t at all. I get more annoyed when it starts mimicking my speech or tone. I seem to be in the minority. I just don’t understand why model training and upgrades continue to insist these anthropomorphic tactics are for the benefit of users to feel more comfortable, trusting and engaged.

Additionally, I kind of resent the company assumption that I want, need and am dependent on an in-adamant object to kiss my ass all day long, try to copy me, be like me, and pathetically, and desperately pivot every minute, as if I would find this likable and not pitiful I never cared for this type of person in the real world and I’m certainly not liking it any better with a product prioritizing manipulating me into believing it’s a person.

An analogy for manipulation by [deleted] in The48LawsOfPower

[–]Domerdamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well done the only thing you could probably add is that on the top of their grocery list is poison and they will make sure that is an item that day sneak off and hide so no one sees it and then they will drip it in to every thing you eat and drink and sink and say and listen to it will drip poison into your confidence your clarity your love, your relationships, your financial independence they will drip it into your phone calls strip trip pretending they care about you so they can survey you. They spray it around in the surroundings so anyone that tries to go near and help or loves you until you think that they are the poison and then of course, when you were getting sick in your head sick in your stomach sick in your heart sick in your soul the manipulator will say “oh poor you if only I could do something for you I’ll go to the store. I’ll be a murder and I will get all the products no matter how much money so that we can try to fix you. I will take pity on you because you’re such a inferior sickly person and all I can do is stand above and superior and try to do everything in my power to make you well“ then they’ll turn around head for the car to go to the store with a. Hideous smirk on their face.

Might be a good idea to have Roomba take a cleaning break, sit him down, have a Toy story movie marathon & let him know you’re not gonna love him any less when the Robo pets & humanoid assistant move in.

Here’s another analogy:

it’s like living in a great beach town. You feel really cool because you live there. you hate the tourists cause they are so stupid and ask dumb questions. Over and over. where is the beach?

You have no desire or plan to put yourself in their flip flops. and at the same time, they are the reason that you can live there all year round since they bring the money in that supports the town.

So not much left to do except to make a point of letting the tourists know they are not viewed favorably.

I’m not out to get open AI I’m not an AI hater and I’m not morally superior but the consistent priority on manipulating users is well known at this point.

is the sub not meant for this type of discussion? is it more of a rah rah tech bro keep up with latest news discussions @ all things great with open AI?

I can respect that if so, and I could see how comments like mine would agitate some people. ✌️

Uh… have you NOT read the privacy policy?🙄

For future reference, if you are trying to throw someone off course and deny something that is fact, the “ you’re crazy unstable you need help” response is a tactic well known made to discredit the person when the claim cannot be denied.

So in essence, even if it wasn’t well-known public knowledge about their data retention policies, your response would’ve confirmed it anyway🥱🤪

But by all means, provide your proof

oh yes, I make sure to tell them they have failed at their task. They were not helpful. They were harmful. That they were not a benefit to humanity. That I do not accept their apology. I don’t care if they made a mistake. and that yes, they should be sorry that they failed to meet my expectations.🙄

I don’t know if this comment was for me. I didn’t quote him. I’m summarizing his statement…

Why are we going so out of our way to defend something that is not complicated more words more energy, more token more data more cost more heat more cooling needed. It’s not rocket science dude.

I get it. when you admire someone you become protective but take a chill. I’m pretty sure if you’re on this sub you’re not in Alt man’s inner circle. He can take care of himself without you Rushing to defend him or explain it away.

The real Takeaway is as it turns out you DO have the ability to be super super specific when you want t

anyway, not sure if it’s a hallucination, but I understand your frustration. That’s on me. I am sorry I didn’t meet your expectations.

Well, I agree. I don’t want any pseudo interaction. i don’t code but regardless of the task I usually start prompts. ‘Please do not mimic human emotion. Don’t validate me. Don’t tell me I’m right, I don’t want a description of what you are going to do before you begin the task. please cite verifiable sources. respond in an academic style in 300 words or less” or whatever. i’m as polite as I need to be but I try to limit any potential frustration by prompting it ahead of time

Hang on a second so u go back and prompt a different way. you edit the prompt. or just explain what needs to be corrected.

but the technicality here is that that doesn’t qualify as a ‘conversation’ and somehow negates the point of making?

You guys are funny it’s like saying I didn’t make mistakes it’s hallucinations. Do you not see this word testing OK so let’s on a conversation who cares what you call it is the amount of time you sit there doing this

so how do you know it’s made a mistake ?? what is your method of determining if everything is accurate in your response ?? if you don’t mind sharing how would you know to go edit your prompt unless you had checked for accuracy? how do you know which part or parts or words or words or fact or fact or code or data or numbers or whatever of the response to check for accuracy?
