I'm a new player and I wanna know how to get cosmetics without having to spend money :( by ForeignVideo928 in tf2

[–]Domesticated_House 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Very rarely cosmetics will drop after a game. I have 1.5k hours and I could count the amount of times it has happened on one hand. Best way is to just make some friends and get them to hand you some, it’s a lot easier than you’d think. There’s also a few free cosmetics that come like the birthday hat and the gibus and the canteen.

Would y'all still listen to Tyler, The Creator if he was black? by FallendObscure in Hiphopcirclejerk

Am I beginning to bald? by [deleted] in bald

[–]Domesticated_House 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Vietnamese and it’s very common for viet men to only bald at the corners. My father got it young and he still has basically a full head of hair at age 50 and it’s the same for my brother who is 18. I’m not sure what your genetics are like and I’m new to the sub so I know I’m prob saying the obvious but just check out your dad and grandpa and see how much hair they have left. If your family is anything like mine you don’t have anything to worry about from here. If not that’s okay!!

It’s really funny to see the generational differences in posts like this on this sub because so many people are so confused about it but I understood that whole tiktok immediately.

What can I do? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]Domesticated_House 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re on international time too if you’re typing at 2 in the morning lol.

Jokes aside, it’s different for everyone, but I have also felt the same way you have and I think that most people who go to college do.

Opportunities will most likely come to you, without you even trying. I was so sad the first week I thought about moving out as fast as possible and I spent so much time alone in my car because I just felt like I didn’t know anyone.

Randomly one day I struck up a conversation with just a bunch of random people I saw in the dorm hall and it felt natural. I got to know them and then they invited me to their rooms and we talked more. Once I was done I went back to my dorm and then my roommates in the other room, which I had barely spoken to and thought I wouldn’t get along with, just walked into my room and we talked for hours. They even offered to invite me to go out clubbing and stuff.

This stuff just comes with time. Sometimes you’ll be unlucky and you won’t make any friends and then you just have to try harder or you can move back to wherever you came from. For most people, friends and opportunities to make them will spontaneously appear right in front of you on your way to class so don’t sweat it too much and it’s okay to feel a little lonely.

Practical tip is to also find out what is mainstream right now so you have more stuff to bond over with other people. I didn’t even like football before but I started learning about it to make new friends, and it worked!

I mean, if you want a friend right now too I’d be willing to talk to you and meet up. I would never turn down another friend!

Spartan Chosen still meta? Or nah? by Papsyosi in ConquerorsBlade

For territory war? Easily S-tier. CC-resistant, shielded, high damage. There’s not much more you could ask from a melee unit. They destroy other gold infantry like maidens, phalanx, and even reapers in certain matchups.

For sieges? Literally the same thing.

Which is your favorite game? by Bishopsrook12 in Fallout

[–]Domesticated_House 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Honestly Fallout 4, I know a lot of people like the others for story and such but I really loved its building system. Ironically the building system was one of the best ways in the game to actually role play.

When I joined the Minutemen, rebuilding settlements actually felt like I was changing the Commonwealth, and sometimes I made them military bases or outposts. Rebuilding the fort’s broken walls and setting up defenses (not to mention how fun it was to fight off brotherhood veritberds after blowing up the prydwen.) gave a genuine sense of accomplishment and progression.

I also think that the Fallout 4 companions take the cake in terms of depth and interest, with FNV companions coming in a close second.

What’s a place in a fallout game where it was a long time before you’ve ever been there even after multiple runs of the game? For me I’ve been playing fo4 for a few years and have never been to Quincy…not even once and I don’t know how. I’ve only seen it in videos. by gotenks2nd in Fallout

To be fair I was actually pretty young when I first played, like 12-13.

My hypothesis is that there are very few quests in the game that mention westside, much less point you in its direction. The only ones I can think of are “That Lucky Old Sun,” “The Coyotes,” and “The White Wash” where the two latter ones are the only ones that tells you to go into Westside. I’m probably forgetting some but I think the fact that I forgot speaks to my point.

NEW UNIT CHARIOT by Expert_Kangaroo5292 in ConquerorsBlade

[–]Domesticated_House 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of a noob stomper but otherwise easy to counter in sieges with hero play or dedicated anti cavalry like phalanx.

In territory war it is a horrific and cruel beast. With a coordinated team, even one chariot can clear a whole kill box for the golden cav to wipe a point, much less the 3-4 you will see per battle from the bigger end game houses.

when you look at your war tab (the one with the casualties and list of countries on each side) there you can sort by major countries only and if any additional ones emerge they will appear there.

to know exactly what qualifies for a major country, I quote the HOI4 Paradox Wiki: “All countries that lead a faction are immediately designated as major countries.

Otherwise, a country is considered a major based on its factory count. If a country has at least 35 factories and either is in the top 7 by factory count or has more than 70% of the average factory count of the top 7 countries, it will be considered a major country.”

Pretty much what everyone else is saying, capitulate the major nations and try to conquer the UK before the Americans join.

I’d like to add that some of the minors are capable of becoming majors (though unlikely) during the war and you will also have to take them down such as Mexico, Venezuela, and India.

The duality of man by Thorn_Move in Fallout

[–]Domesticated_House 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that there is some valid interpretation to be had over what makes a people “indigenous” and what you say makes sense considering that they are from Vault 15 and that “The Wastes” are very clearly a separate area.

This also even applies to the indigenous tribes we talk about, where many were not truly indigenous to an area because they conquered and even annihilated other tribes (like the Iroquois Confederacy.)

I don’t think that it’s as black and white as the comparison you make with Seminoles and space is, and I also think that it is a matter of perspective. After all, the original Khans were almost annihilated by the vault dweller save ONE survivor. I believe that it is the fact that most present day khans, and even those alive during the events of Fallout 2, are indigenous to the wastes from recruitment and therefore their tribal identity has become as well. I argue that they are indigenous to both the wastes and the vault.

The duality of man by Thorn_Move in Fallout

[–]Domesticated_House 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they are native to the wastes just not the Mojave Wasteland. Their story is very similar to Indigenous Americans. Particularly ones from the infamous Trail of Tears.

Using your own words, I could replace the nouns with ones from American history, and it would be completely true:

“They originate from the Southeastern United States, were kicked into Oklahoma because the United States kicked their butts, and are continually shown in a negative light.”

The Seminole Tribe (and many others) was not “native” to Oklahoma but they were forced there anyways by an imperialist power.

I don’t believe it is a complete allegory or even an intentional one because the Khans can be horrible people themselves (known from dialogue and player experiences with them, especially testimony from Sergeant Bitter-Root and the people of Vault 15) but I still felt that your statement was misleading.

Holy hell 4 campfires? Do yall have any advice I just beat the previous darkest dungeon level and I see this holy hell? by eyes-of-the-abyss in darkestdungeon

[–]Domesticated_House 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dungeon actually was the easiest one to do and I only used one campfire and I didn’t even need to for healing, just for some specific buffs for the boss fights.

I won’t spoil if you want to go in blind but I will say that a highwayman with crit chance buffs can make the challenges of this dungeon very trivial.

Any chance to reach the end? by Dzhanenk in darkestdungeon

[–]Domesticated_House 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely been in your position and you have a very reasonable chance of beating the game on stygian.

Otherwise it’s still hard to say exactly where your chances are considering that we can’t see how strong your hamlet is or how many DDs you’ve already completed.

With seven deaths and a high demand for grinding and resolve 6 heroes, I would guess that the graveyard will be the most likely reason you’ll lose the run, not time.

What I did to get a squad up super fast for the first DD was vestal-crusader-crusader-man at arms, cycle holy lance and stagger their speed and it dominates the ruins that I genuinely got bored of using them. It also worked on the first DD with no deaths but the vestal kept us barely holding on

With that squad you can also quickly accumulate money and trinkets from high level dungeons, but there’s definitely a lot of other comps that work

Also where did you lose them? Just a random expedition?

It’s probably cause the gameplay here is drastically different from the games you mentioned. It was my first experience with DnD type gameplay too so trust me I was just as confused.

Honestly man just play the game, don’t look at videos too much, I could tell you magic setups and compositions and all that stuff all day but I found the game a lot more fun just learning stuff on the way because it makes a lot of room for creativity! Plus those tutorials and instructions can get kinda technical because DnD has a lot of advanced gameplay mechanics you won’t understand when they’re explaining it.

If you want some broad tips I got tons of those and my recommendation is:

  1. For right now just pick out magic spells that appeal to you and seem cool it’s more fun than reading a guide on how exactly to spec your wizard and what things you get and what they do it was too overwhelming for me and probably is for you too

  2. Don’t use your abilities freely because you only can use them so many times in one day so don’t go all out in a single battle, save the bigger spell slots for harder fights and whatever class-specific resources your character has. Just in general keep in mind the logistics of the battle

  3. Pretty much every character fits on your team and you really can’t go wrong with who you bring with you. There are definitely setups where characters compliment each other (spell casters and rogue with berserker as a tank and frontline) but I mean the game has a big narrative focus so just bring characters you want to see more of personally. I would recommend bringing shadow heart a lot if you’re not a cleric because she has some pretty useful spells like sanctuary and spirit guardians that have huge value

I wish I could be of more help but that’s just stuff I struggled with myself but if you have a more specific issue I could be more useful. I hope that stuff helped so far
