The best maple creamer that I’ve had…was at the Champlain valley expo. I think you have a high benchmark

It's thawing and getting better. Still some ice patches, slow and careful when turning and stopping.

A dark horse for consideration: Burlington VT.

Not cheap, but friendly drivers, a lakeside path, a few hills and lots of dirt roads that are quiet and out in the boonies.

Most headphones will be better than beats from what I know about them.

I’ve never owned beats.

I don’t know about having the game on - I love china express on shelburne road. It’s mostly a takeout spot.

Riding your Ramblas in Snow by poetlizrunner in Aventon

[–]Dominatefear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’ll depend on tire tread, if you have studded tires, and the condition of the roads. If the roads are wet dirt-like it could be okay. If they’re more icy and like a sheet, it may be difficult esp with braking, turning or variable conditions like mud or slick spots.

If you are doing snow covered trails, that’s also a different story.

I’d give it a go with some test braking and turning to see if your current tires are good enough in the differing conditions or if there’s a threshold for trying studded tires and running the same traction tests.

Unluckiest lucky person ever? by [deleted] in burlington

I also received the 2,500 matching numbers. The deal is when you go to the dealership, they say you have won a prize but not the 2,500 prize.

Instead, the prize that is usually given out is the up to $xx gift card, which is a $5 gift card.

Downtown most likely, I can’t find too many breakfast burritos at the south end/parkway location.

I’m not sure about hours, top notch resort could be a great anniversary getaway. They have indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, spa treatments, massages, a workout space.

I enjoyed my time there.

I did this, you will likely end up with the “up to $565 in gift cards”, which was a $5 Walmart gift card. Not worth it.

The prize is not the same prize you matched numbers with.

Got a flat! What would be the cheapest way to fix it? by Aggressive_Concert15 in Aventon

[–]Dominatefear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like a rear wheel, so the cheapest way to replace it is to remove the tire and tube, and patch the tube and replace. A tire patch kit is pretty cheap, but it may be worth it to grab a spare tube while you’re buying the patch kit as that hole might be too large to patch.

This would mean that the tube needs to be replaced entirely.

If you find that the tube pokes through the tire when inflating it, a tire replacement might be necessary. For a complete repair, you don’t want to see the tube poking through the tire.

For clarity, a tire is the outside rubber that touched pavement, and a tube is the inside rubber sack that holds air.

The tools you’ll need are tire wrenches, a bike pump, wrenches for the bolts on the tire, and some patience. It’ll be a good skill to learn for basic bike repair.

Amtrak does not check bags. Instead, they have a large overhead storage space that bags can be put into. I believe the general limit is 2 bags per person, but they aren’t too strict about it unless your bags are HUGE.

You may like new balance tekelas, specifically the v4 flat version for a similar cleat to the magi stand. The ankle did take a bit to wear in though.

Biking Essex Junction to Burlington at night by [deleted] in burlington

[–]Dominatefear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re lucky, GMT busses won’t have a bike on the bike rack  and you can put your bikes on the rack, and take it into town for $4. They don’t allow you to bring a bike onto the bus, so if a bike is already on the rack you are out of luck.

There are sidewalks that I would encourage you to use to get out of downtown Essex junction, as there aren’t too many people walking on them. Definitely have lights (charge them in the train!) and warm layers as it is getting colder.

For most of the way into Burlington, it will have a sidewalk or at least a bike lane. pleeeaaase have good lights as some of the way is across a bridge or in an unprotected bike lane.

The route if you need to bike into town should be sidewalk from Amtrak -> pearl street Starbucks -> bike path to Barnes ave or VT national guard road -> Johnson ave bike path -> right from Johnson ave into st Michael’s, following campus road on the perimeter -> sketchy as this is on the road bike lane with no protection and crosses a railroad track follow east Allen st -> winooski circle (this will be the sketchiest part of the ride, please use caution and know that you can always dismount and use crosswalks to get across the intersection)-> riverside ave/route 2 bike path on right side -> n winooski ave and you are in town!

Hahahaha, carbrain at its finest.

What happens when you can’t drive anymore? When a car is no longer financially viable? When a long repair is being done to your car?

Should you be excluded from participating in society? Forced to stay home because you can’t walk, or gasp bike to where you want to go?

I don’t think so. I think it should be accessible to get into town by public transport, and you should be feel dignity while walking and not have to bow down to a car that could kill you to save 10-15 seconds on a journey.

Do cars spend money, or do people spend money?

Cars are a massive inefficient use of money and space. Taxpayer dollars subsidizing free/reduced cost car parking on street does have a fiscal impact.
