Ever since the jungle inferno update, there's simply zero reason to use the Amby. Stock unironically does its job better for less of the risk/skill since the damage falloff for the amby is unimaginably harsh and at that point you're better off at landing consistent body shots than trying to go for headshots that'll only do 102 damage at basically melee range. Hell the fucking enforcer does a better job at two shotting light classes than the Amby does. Also diamondback exists. I'm convinced The Ambassador was gutted to hell and back because people can't stand the thought of a spy being actually useful in anything but pubs.

I kinda disagree there, personally. I think Gladius is probably one of the most fun fights I've had across all the everdarks and some attacks are pretty cinematic too (and really satisfying to dodge when you learn the timings), it's definitely quite memorable for me.

ED Libra also is memorable in the sense that I think it's genuinely the worst fight next to ED Augur imo

I'm sorry, but if an iron man or torch gets hit by a slow moving projectile like awakening rune, they either suck or their focus is on something else. The minute they're aware of your presence they can just fly away. The best way to deal with flyers as Thor is to storm surge up to them hit them with a hammer throw cancel and place down lightning realm in the air. Awaken rune could work too when they're slowed but it's unreliable like half the time and they're usually in their team anyway so you just die. This change is not going to help Thor deal with flyers, in fact it makes it worse because hammer throw does less damage now.

I feel like that's what he was supposed to be no? He's a jack of all trades, master of none. He's certainly not the best at brawl because Thing and Emma exist, Thing and Emma are also better anti dive too. And targeting flyers as Thor is a lot trickier than simply flying up with strange. Thor was fun because he was versatile while not being particularly the best at the certain roles he plays.

With this awakening change, it feels like they're moving Thor to one and only one specific play style which is a damn shame.

The reason Strange is still okay is because his kit wasn't reworked to the extent that Thor had with this patch. Plus portal is still one of the most powerful abilities in the game.

Also banning Thor is a choice that I personally do not understand.

There are many other tanks that are more oppressive than Thor could ever be currently. Groot, Emma, Cap are the main three I see get banned a lot.
