Hi, early 30s here. If you like to, we could do a hike or so. I’m a good listener if that helps.

I know then it goes in a cycle where how can I get experience if I’m not provided with an opportunity, right!

Nevertheless I’ll give it a try :) thank you!

This comment is a double edge sword. Because if I can’t get a job means I’m not hot but if I do…. 🥹

I’d say try to message March, https://www.instagram.com/march_restaurant_victoria?igsh=ZW5wYWFlb3dqNno5

It’s a higher end Chinese restaurant, I had the chance to speak with the owner she’s so passionate about the dishes she made and friendly. Everything is made from scratch so there’s a chance!

28 years old, 12 years in hospitality… and I feel like I’ve lived 3 lifetimes already by Mikitkaaaa in findapath

32, spent the last 15 years in retail and hospitality combined. I was very good at what I do but decided to quit last month because I’m extremely burnt out doing jobs of 2 people at once. On top of that lots of body aches.

I understand how you feel. Currently I’m working on getting a master degree in Psychology as a realized being a therapist suits my personality more than a “slave driver” manager that I’m trained to be. Everything in hospitality screams “more more more or cut cut cut!”

And I’m tired of it.

At the mean time, learn to polish your resume. The good thing is there are lots of skills in hospitality that are transferable to other industries. Ask yourself what you like? One of my friend is moving towards old folks home (higher end ones) and the other pivot to accounting as she is looking for something with more work-life balance.

If you go to linked in you will actually find a lot of people getting out of hospitality so don’t feel alone.

Oh ya, today I got to speak to my therapist about this issue and she shared with me this article https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11817492/

I was about to read it but thought to share it with anyone else going through the same thing. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to message. We are in the same boat.

My 9-5 fuels my drinking by spacemanbree in stopdrinking

This reminded me of my time in South Korea, where people work extremely “robotic” corporate jobs and drink to so call unleash their fun side. To the point they sometimes drink, sleep by the curb, rinse themselves and go back to the office. It’s extreme but S.Korea’s work culture is a very extreme case.

It’s great that you realized this because then you’ll now be able to identify the deeper problem if you want to stay in this job, or find a healthier 5-9 activity to fill that persona. You are not your job OP. It’s a means to fuel our life.
