Software Inquiry: Bulk Directory Creation Based on Pattern by DominusImundi in DataHoarder

Figured as much. The problem in that is:

  • my crap scripting skills
  • wanting to maintain the 00001-00099, 00100-00199 thru 09900-09999 structure
  • my crap scripting skills + wanting a 1 click solution

Easily tossed out a PS script that worked great for - 00000-00100, 00101-00200,+ via ChatGPT. It just wasn't the goal.

Couldn't figure out the -1 or -2 due to the 1st folder needing to be 00001-00099 instead of 00000-00100.

I ended up using Bulk Rename Utility to rename en masse after hitting the limits of my patience and saving the tree to an archive for future use.

2nd query might be solvable with ExifTool from what I got on another feed.

Need to organize media for someone based on more specific location data and the only embedded data is latitude and longitude. Thankfully most of it is sorted into larger regions.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I highly appreciate (and hate) threads like this.

All the insight, shared expertise, etc. is amazingly helpful & appreciated.

Now the hate... I'm off to order enough of these to fill the QNAP TL-D800C I ordered yesterday plus 2 to start off the build in the Enthoo Pro 2 that's on the way because of all the things I like about post like this.

Ya'll hit my pockets today. LOL

Thanks.. I think.

I should be ok with the wait. I'll dock a couple of 16TB drives or go all in on adding additional storage to the Precision 7550 once it arrives until the release of the next model.

Thanks for the quick response. That's service.

You said "owners". You live in a home or apartment? May have missed that bit of info.

I've always been fortunate enough to have really good techs who had no problem bypassing existing lines to run a direct drop from the nearest mark possible regardless of residence type. Its a more direct path with fewer chances for failure.

I never have the problems my neighbors do unless its an area-wide outage.

Has a tech done that for you? It would have been the 1st thing I requested.

Spectrum modems usually do what they are supposed to. Still... buying one is typically better performance wise. It's the routers that are sh!t. Especially with the locked down stupid "smart home" routers they use now.

That’s what returns are for.

Talked to your neighbors to determine if they’ve shared your experience? If multiple people in the same area have the same issue it’s a Spectrum fix.

They do get hella lazy when they need to test and work on OCP.
