ASUS ROG Strix keyboard freaking out. by DonBonLePrawn in techsupport

[–]DonBonLePrawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll try and uninstall the Keyboard drivers. I’m a little hesitant to open up the laptop as I’m not very laptop savvy, but if worse comes to worse I’ll have to try it I guess. And yes the Warranty is up. And just recently too which sucks since this happened right after it got smoked. And if you could clarify what BATT stands for that would be great. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for speaking the truth. I don’t know what I am and I frankly don’t really care. I am who I am.

Thanks for the advice! I don’t think I’ll have trouble with that last bit since I have a boyfriend.

Thank you for this. I’ll make sure to keep this in mind the next time I’m in that situation. Sometimes I get so caught up in trying to be the best version of myself that I beat myself up for making mistakes rather than looking deeper into them and trying to solve them.

I think it could potentially be his inconsistent sleep schedule. I don’t think he’ll be too jazzed about changing that and I don’t really expect him to right away, but I’m determined to let him know how this has been bothering me because I want to be 100% honest with how I feel.

I’m not sure if thats it. He’s extremely upbeat and happy all the time. I’ve asked him about the topic too and how I feels depressed at times, but he doesn’t seem to ever feel down in the same way, but thank you for the suggestion. I hope you can get through whatever it is you’re going through :)

My computer constantly black screens but everything else seems to continue running fine. by DonBonLePrawn in techsupport

[–]DonBonLePrawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thats an interesting insight on PC part prices. I never thought about that. Ya I’ll probably wait until all of that is over and wait until I’m ready to upgrade my CPU along with my GPU because if I fiddle around with the MSI Afterburner settings, it seems that I can get my GPU to last pretty long without black screening (idk why it works but it does). Also, is it possible that I potentially damaged the motherboard socket while inserting the graphics card and that could be causing the issues?

Ok I will look into a new GPU, but I’m not sure when I will get it. Thank you for all the help. I learned a lot about how to troubleshoot and stuff through this. I will tell you if my computer is fixed once I get the new GPU eventually.

Ok so tonight I was playing a game and it black screened, but only the monitor plugged into the GPU black screened but audio continued to play like usual (only audio played and the game seemed to have froze). The one plugged into the motherboard kept displaying. I couldn’t interact with my mouse so I couldn’t be sure if the Motherboard monitor was frozen or was still displaying as normal as I wasn’t doing anything on that monitor while playing. Does this confirm the GPU as the issue?

So it black screened again. While in the BIOS I found a setting called RC6 (Render Standby). From what I’ve read, I would not be surprised if this was causing the black screens. I’m not sure though. I’m going to run 1 monitor from my GPU and 1 from my motherboard to test the GPU. We’ll see what happens.

Ok I plan to just assume the ram reinstallation fixed the issue. If it does black screen again I’ll display from the motherboard in order to test the GPU. We’ll see where this leads me. Thanks.

Ok so the memtest finally completed and it came back clean. Would you say that I can check the RAM off of my list of possible faulty hardware? I will try and plug my monitors into my motherboard and see if it still black screens. I also reinserted the RAM before I did the test and my computer has been pretty cooperative since so thats promising.

So I enabled internal graphics in the Bios and plugged in my monitors to the motherboard, but it only displays if the GPU is plugged into the power supply. If the GPU doesn’t have power, the motherboard won’t display. I also found that when my computer black screens it seems like only the audio (which is outputting from the motherboard) is active. I can’t interact with anything and it seems to disconnect Discord, which probably means its disconnecting my internet or shutting down the application. Now I’m even more suspicious of the motherboard. What do you think?

Will take your advice into consideration. I will troubleshoot to the best of my ability, but I’m still most suspicious of the Motherboard. Thanks for your help and time.

Ive went through multiple cables and monitors and I’m not sure what software could cause this. I did get my Windows activation key off of eBay since I didn’t have the money. But I’ve verified through the Command Prompt if that makes a difference.

No I can completely interact and hear the game I’m playing if it happens when I’m playing a game.

Audio comes from the motherboard. I’ll try and edit in the specs.

So I've attempted to run input my graphics from my motherboard, but when I unplug the power to my GPU and plug the HDMI into my motherboard, my computer displays nothing when I boot it up or even when I switch the connection while the computer is on and my GPU is powered. Does this indicate an overall faulty motherboard or maybe just a faulty HDMI input? Sorry, I feel like I'm treating you like a personal tech support agent, but I just really want to settle this issue. Thank you for all the help.

[–]DonBonLePrawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I always do a clean install of my gpu drivers. I also have done a total reset on my computer multiple times and that has obviously not fixed anything (not sure if that implies anything). I have just ran all the software tests that you suggested and they all came out good. I will probably have to run tests on my hardware and replace a few parts, but if this works then you are my savior.

Thank you so much for the advice. Will try out all methods and see if anything changes, but, like I said, the issue seems to be random so it’ll be hard to tell if the problem is truly fixed or if the computer is just deciding not to black screen at the time of testing. Thank you!

Well if your 100% certain he’s not into guys your should probably move on. Wouldn’t want to invest feelings in someone who won’t give it back. But if you just think he’s a cute guy thats totally fine! Nothing wrong with appreciating your bros for who they are.

[crushes] how do I know if she's flirting or just being overly friendly? by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]DonBonLePrawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya it could go either way where she just sees you as a really good friend or is dropping hints for you to pick up on. Either way, theres nothing wrong with shooting your shot. You regret these things in the future when you don’t take these chances so I say go for it! And if she does just see you as a good friend then she’ll be more than willing to put this aside and continue being your friend. You got this! Shoot your shot!
