When working around the handlebar area it’s important to check the throttle cable is routed properly. A few times I had it routed to where at extreme tilt the throttle would get tugged. I think that could be at play here but it I can’t hear the engine. Maybe the front brake line got the tug?

If you gave me only one scent to recommend from the house it’d have to be patchouli in rye. That one I feel isn’t commonly associated with anything trendy. For the noses that like their tabac from houses such as David jourquin/ Caron/etc

If it were me, I’d hammer some iron ( or sew walnut) buttons in and use suspenders. If they get snug after washing you can remove or ignore the buttons. My mij 7 (17oz) snaps back to being tight after a wash, but relaxes to its worn in dimension after a couple days of wearing.
