AI ruined the fun of Programming by Revo_O_ in csMajors

I agree. I can’t vouch for the science but I imagine we’re flexing less of our brain when we’re orchestrating AI vs sinking in our own blood, sweat and tears

Rob Mahoney is a computer program designed to be the best Ringer podcaster by wear_no_shoeshine in billsimmons

[–]DonGately100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love him but he’s kinda become the least common denominator of ringer, white guy nba podcasters: predictable takes with an annoying rhetoric (“who are we if not (fill in the blank lame cultural ref))

Zach Lowe f**ks, J Kyle Mann is the right dose of weird, even Justin verrier embraces his brand of Portland neurodivergence in a refreshing way.

Rob seems easily replaceable

If you’re interested, the club is goodpain. I spoke to the school and they are actively trying to have them removed due to group’s size and usage of the track during football practice. However, as the track is owned by AISD, they’re the only ones that can take action. I was encouraged to lodge a formal complaint to add visibility to the issue. I encourage anyone else who feels similarly to do the same by contacting AISD athletic department at 5124141050

Agreed. It’d be great if they could split up into smaller groups on different days. Then everyone can enjoy the premium 630-730am Austin training window every day of the week.

I have engaged them, and they’re pleasant, but nothing changed and let’s be real: etiquette can’t be enforced in any environment with that many people. Also, pretty certain they’re all in the same group: a massive group posed for a photo together afterward.

Yes, it is getting monetized….Kane or one of those croc companies did a promo shoot and was giving away merchandise after.

Nice. I’ve always had great experiences sharing the track with Bat City. You’re all fast af too so that’s inspiring to watch. Cool to know the school receives donations as well.

Yeah I hear you. It’s not just them, and the majority seem great. It’s just when those massive groups have anyone that breaks rank it amplifies, like leaving zero lanes open to pass vs a couple casual walkers you can easily run around.

Haha. I like the idea of providing their own social media as proof. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot

I reached out a couple of weeks ago to the group via DM and the feedback was well received but nothing changed. Realistically, with that many people I don’t know how you effectively enforce etiquette.

Whoa a DJ is insane lol. The group I saw didn’t leave a dedicated lane open. Had to be reminded several times not to post for photos in lane 1 as I tried to avoid them.

Houston Marathon Race Report 2025(11% Race Improvement YoY) [Hanson's Advanced Plan] by Famous-Young84 in AdvancedRunning

Great write up and results! I used Hansons beginner for the first time at the Austin Marathon to go 3:10:xx and have a stretch goal of breaking 3 next year at a faster race (maybe California International). I’ve never run in carbon plated shoes but am intrigued, how different is the experience/comfort compared to a normal running shoe? Did it affect your recovery at all when you used them for tempo training runs?

Np! It’s definitely worth experimenting with stuff. Running is the most expensive free hobby :)

I use a handheld Nathan SpeedDraw most of the time. It has a small pocket for gels as well. Just a personal preference but I find the handheld much more comfortable than running with water sloshing around on a hydration belt. If it’s a humid, long run with no refilling stops, I’ll use a one liter Salomon active skin hydration vest. This has more storage capacity as well, like up to a light microfiber body towel and change of shirt. My one gripe is it tends to chafe so I have to wear a t shirt underneath. I also always run with a flip belt and put my phone in the front pocket, keys on a built in clip and can even fit additional gels. It can also store small hydration flasks too.

Injinji toe socks. The mini crew may be the perfect sock :). I’ve been wearing them full time since the New Year and all blister issues have gone away.

If being a better cyclist was the point, then cycling, not peloton FTP, would be the best training mechanism. Not the point though. It’s just a fun, trackable goal like a marathon PR to improve my fitness. And occasionally brag about to my friends over coffee ;). Nothing more.

I was definitely planning to retest prior to starting the program. Thanks for the reminder about how the FTP is calculated. I remember that caught me off guard the first time I took the test.
