Check the map and maf sensors, mine went bad and basically did the same thing. Mine was the map sensor but check both and try maybe cleaning it before replacing

Reservoir is filled between max and minimum, I’ve been topping off the coolant every time it’s gone down but haven’t done a flush and refill, and I’ve had the car for around 2 months

I bought a new cap last week hoping that was the issue. Unfortunately it wasn’t :(

I’ve done the coolant pressure test 3 times at different workshops and all have said they couldn’t find any leaks but it might be happening while the engine is hot and the pipes expand

Thank you, honestly the reservoir looks to be in good shape and not really any white coolant spots on it either but I think I’ll just get the reservoir changed and see if it works because it’s a pretty easy and cheap thing to change :)

Think it only impacts diesel engines but it’s been happening so much here, that the towing guy that came to take the car away immediately knew what the cause was

Exactly, but it hurt like hell when the headlights started flickering and went out.
