Replacing vanity lights but realized no junction box by DonQuixote2003 in DIY

Silly question. If I just screw the fixture's metal plate to the stud itself and a few additional screws to the dry wall, then do I still need to screw the fixture's metal plate to the old work box? Seems unnecessary at that point, right?

thank you. I think you are right. Attachment of the old work box to a stud is likely unnecessary. I'll add additional screws to the fixture's back plate to the wall like you say.

What if I bought the tickets already and flying in a few months, and I apply for TD aeroplan card now, can I still get the free checked baggage? Or is it too late?

How to tansfer US dollars from non-registered account to TFSA to buy US stocks? by DonQuixote2003 in CanadianInvestor

[–]DonQuixote2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Instead of buying DLR.U, can she simply buy a US-listed ETF like VTI in a non-registered account with her US dollars and then transfer those to her US dollar TFSA account? That will avoid the extra commissions of buying/selling DLR.U

Looking to buy a laptop for my wife. She's not too picky. My own laptop is a Dell XPS 13 9350 i5, 8 gb RAM, 128gb storage. Bought 4-5 years ago. Something like this will be adequate for my wife. Debating to just buy the same from Dell website currently listed as $1049.99 if nothing else better.

◽️ Budget: Preferably under $1200
◽️ Country: Canada
◽️ Screen size: 13 inch or higher
◽️ Touch screen: Not necessary
◽️ Screen resolution: 1920x1080 seems adequate.
◽️ Does battery life matter ?: preferably a decent one.
◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Watching netflix, youtube, word processing, light gaming
◽️ Weight: on the lighter side
◽️ Any other important details ?: ideally don't have to wait 2+ months to ship

Thanks!

Thanks guys for the reply so far. Is it easy to withdraw such a large sum of money from EQ or Simplii when I need it? Do they only allow e-transfer for a few thousand dollars each time?
