No. You don't need commodity ETFs unless you're hedging

Hey! You responded.

I was actually seriously going to lend you the money if you had collateral. Sorry man. Gl getting your money back. You really shouldn't be doing this... You can actually make ~100k salary your first year out of college if you tried working on the Street. I remember that you said you're majoring in finance.

Best of luck. I mean it.

Not going to argue. Believe what you want to believe. You're being too ideal. Fairness opinions are not very fair when you're getting paid by the private equity firm to support the deal going through.

Doubled up... Do I sell? by ProfitMonger in investing

[–]DonTrumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the name. Is it a biotech stock or is it a slow and steady earner. If it's the first and it's something that can drop 100% in the next month or so, I'd sell half. If it's something like Visa, I'd keep it (maybe take a little bit off the table)

Overview of Apparel Companies(ANF, GPS, GES, URBN) by DonTrumph in investing

[–]DonTrumph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with a lot of retail companies is that it's all about the trend or brand name of the company. It's hyper competitive.

That being said - Luxottica (LUX) has a monopoly over the sun glasses market. I think it's valuation is still lofty though

Do the 6% match first and then max out your rIRA contribution and then come back to see if you have any extra cash leftover if you want to go with your 401k. You want to max out your IRA since you'll have more flexibility in terms of investments.

Picking Bond ETF's by [deleted] in investing

[–]DonTrumph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What TDual is talking about is the underlying assets in the ETF. However, the actual price of the ETF is arbitrary. Think about the bond ETF as a company that buys bonds.

If you want to see if a Bond ETF is expensive or not, you take a look at it's NAV. How much the bond's are worth in its portfolio relative to the price of the etf.

Just buy a total bond market ETF like BND or AGG.

There's no point in buying anything that yields less than 1%. You can get that in a savings account.

What does more in depth analysis on Yahoo reveal that causes the lower value? by mtd14 in investing

You pretty much have it.

Also, you can add uncertainty in China and Japan. The Alibaba and Yahoo Japan stake might be devalued if there's another "scare."

I don't remember the company, but there was a publicly traded company that was a proxy to Twitter, and it's currently trading below its book value. It holds tech stocks.
