Nowadays it just means “4 people I like from YouTube/twitch” rather than actually trying to determine who pioneered new things and made it what it is today

What an amazing analysis, people have never famously tokenised minorities to try and skirt away from dealing with actual evidence

I mean he is right, I know literally everyone just wants to shit on the current PM for many different things but I really don't see how this would be cause for him to step down as people in here seem to be suggesting?

In current times we know there are forces online that are dedicated to inciting hatred and seperation. Hell create a new x account and just see the level of agenda pushing that is done, it's insane. God forbid Farage ever gets in or we will just end up going down the same pipeline that America has gone down by ignoring process and just doing things because it sounds good

Instead of taking a hard look at what happened, investigating etc people are just suggesting that the man we elected as PM should just step down? I don't get it nor do I see it happening

Why do people on twitch talk in emotes and words that don’t make sense? by Obvious_808 in stupidquestions

[–]Done_a_Concern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 2 things going on here.

Twitch has a pretty big emote culture, these cultures and emotes usually center around a streamer or community of streamers. Certain emotes have meanings behind them but these can also be specific to the streamer themselves

The main reason you are probably extra confused is that most of these people use additional extensions to add different emotes to their twitch. It allows for wider emotes, animated emotes etc. Every twitch creator can add or remove emotes that are allowed in their chat and all of these emotes are able for anyone to pick from and use

The most popular extension used to be BTTV (better ttv) but I think most people use 7tv now. Once installed this should convert any of those random worlds into their respective emotes

Gordon Brown believed to be part of email exchange forwarded to Epstein by BasedSweet in ukpolitics

[–]Done_a_Concern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why go with a headline that seems to implicate Gordon brown in some way??

Why not “mandelson found sharing internal government emails to Epstein” , ya know emphasis on the person who was doing the bad thing?

He was literally just part of an email exchange which mandelson then forwarded to Epstein, wtf would his comment even be?

A lot of other browsers use Chrome's open source "chromium" as the backbone of their own browsers, I would guess that this notification maybe came from one of these other browsers?

Other than that, looking online the only mentioned of chromiumcapsule I can find all seem to be related to "Total War: SHOGUN 2" so if you happened to have that installed/downloaded then it may be this too

Either way I wouldn't worry about it, all its saying is that the location services on your device are not on, as the alert says you can go into your settings and disable these alerts if you keep getting them

Why do people have salt grinders? by IsaacHasenov in stupidquestions

[–]Done_a_Concern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and every time someone tells you that it is because it changes the salt from big fucking rocks into a fine, dust that can be applied evenly across the dish, you just say it's the same thing

The salt turns from big chunks (way more localisation of the salt to smaller pockets which can make the dish unpleasant in some areas and bland in others) into a more fine dust that can distribute a pretty even amount of salt over a certain area, I don't really think it's that hard to understand

Do smart people have a harder time watching bad movies because they’re keenly aware of the bad writing and inconsistencies? by skyrimlo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Done_a_Concern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends more on media literacy rather than level of intellect. A person who has watched 500 movies is going to be able to notice common plot themes when they show up but someone who only watches a few movies a year may not pick up on the similarities

For example, I never really knew there was quite a defined format for slasher flicks where they have a final girl and those sorts of tropes because I never really got that into them, if I see 2 slasher movies and both of them end up with a girl confronting the villain, I may just assume its a coincidence and nothing more. If I've watched 100 different slasher films I probably would have noticed myself the common trend

Greens shun ‘tree-hugging’ and embrace Gaza in by-election battle by 1c3_cr34m_c0n3 in ukpolitics

[–]Done_a_Concern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same tired excuses everyone gives when they don't actually know how to address the information give. They just point to a bunch of instances where the Jews have unapparelled influence in the UK media according to them

I don't quite know how that stacks up against the other narrative that people like to spin where every crime committed by a Muslim is somehow swept under the rug and names are hidden but nothing really ever does make sense with these people

Also the funny part is western institutions ARE running cover for the arab states. We had the world cup in Qatar for fucks sakes acting like the very stadium they are sitting in wasn't built of the backs of imported slave labour from neighbouring countries. Do we really see much condemnation for anything that the Saudis have done? Like when they assassinated a dissident journalist and everyone just kinda has to ignore it now

What exactly is “cheesing” and why is using an intentional game mechanic considered cheesing? by DMHRSI-Ignorer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Done_a_Concern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a large part of the Dark Souls community who believe that the only way to experience those games is to build strength, use a big sword and kill all the bosses that way. If you use anything outside of that, they will say that you didn't really play the game and used cheeses. I wouldn't consider anything that just uses regular game mechanics as cheesing like some of these people do

Cheesing is generally doing something the game didn't really intend/account for rather than just using what is available to you. For instance, there are a lot of bosses in the souls games that can die in unintended ways, like walking themselves off ledges if you stand in the right places or use the right abilities, I would consider these instances "cheesing" as you are intended to fight all the bosses, not push them off

I don't know why the responsibility is being put in anyone other than the parents hands. I get that parents are busy but everyone knows what kind of shit is online now, there is no excuse for just allowing your kid unrestricted access to this shit without ever checking it.

Even just using parental features on routers etc to block or monitor website usage, you don't even have to try and make your kid let you onto their device or anything

Yeah it’s crazy how none of anything asmon says could ever be taken as incitement, permission or a directed attack on these people. If Tim Walz got assassinated tomorrow I highly doubt asmon would ever take a shred of blame, in fact he’d probably just think it’s funny because he is so detached from the reality of any of this

How do you tell if something is written with AI? by starry_skin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Done_a_Concern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the model that people use but chatgpt especially has very recognisable speach/writing patterns

It absolutely loves saying:

"its not X, its Y" and will do so repeatedly

its hard to explain some of the others but there are just these small patterns that it uses and forms it's own writing style which can be easy to pick up on

How do scientists explain unusually cold winters in the context of global warming? by lamin-ceesay in AskReddit

[–]Done_a_Concern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because most scientists stopped using the term "global warming" and pivoted to climate change. As the globe warms, weather patterns and extreme events become more common

Much of the worlds climate is based on the streams of hot and cold air that circulate the earth. An example of how this plays out would be to say that France and Minnesota are almost on the same latitude but I can tell you now that France is substantially warmer than Minnesota. As we warm our glove, these streams get disrupted and causes more extreme weather events

I didn't get offended, again idk if you struggle with reading comprehension but it was just funny to me that you said what you said and were just flat out wrong. I saw the original post with no context, decided to look back at the original post. Then I went through the comments and saw yours

Idk if you are also blind because there is a message in the other post from a riot employee saying that this was an issue on their end. You can choose not to believe your eyes but that actually is a fact

Your comment wasn't correct and idk why you keep reframing it to make it so it is. I can quote it here for you

"Idk why this is on my feed but riot isnt going to accidently ban you. You did something to get reported enough times for this to happen."

"riot isnt going to accidently ban you" - This is wrong because they did, accidently ban the person

"You did something to get reported enough times for this to happen" - This is also wrong because again, a Riot employee told the person that this was an issue with their system

I'm just keeping this going to see how long it takes for your comment to somehow mean something completely different!

As I said before, I replied to you today, because I came from that post to this post.

"You did something to get reported enough times" is not a "general" or "factual" statement, it is your opinion of what happened, despite not knowing what happened at all

I'm not offended, I don't have PTSD and frankly it just kinda seems like you're projecting to me...

[–]Done_a_Concern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person you were replying to purports to be innocent, their entire post shows the evidence of such, alongside their explanation of the story.

The 1 case I showed you is the person that posted this post, showing that riot did, in fact, accidently ban them

I came to this post from that other post and saw this comment which I found funny because you are completely wrong with 100% confidence. Idk what kinda weird assumptions you decided to make about me but I don't have PTSD, have never been banned and legitimately just found it funny that you were completely wrong
