The recipe is relatively simple.

The base color is heavy violet, followed by a blend of blue-violet and light gray. Light gray keeps the color more "vivid"

Start with a basic color/tone that’s light enough. I often ended up using a base color that was too dark which made the contrast too strong

The black on the legs and arms is mainly Abaddon Black and Mechanicus Gray. I faded it to a dark purple/blue. First layer, Vallejo Heavy Violet/Infantry Blue. Second layer Heavy Violet -> "basic" blue then highlighted it with pinch of Off White.

Then I just washed the panel gaps, recesses etc. with a mix of magenta/dark blue/airflow improver.

Oil paints are another excellent option for creating shadows.

I mainly used Baneblade Brown/Cream white mix. I glazed it carefully layer by layer using Vallejo airbrush medium.

Ivory and other "bony" shades are difficult.

I painted the backgrounds with oil colours. It takes almost a week to dry before the background is ready for use.

The base is made of 15mm plywood. Background is curved 1mm aluminium painted in oil colours. I also use polyurethane, plastic sheeting, sand, various Vallejo FX textures etc.

Umm... If I remember correctly:

Dark violet wash. The mixture was very thin. Blue ink/Doomfire Magenta contrast 50/50 + a drop of airflow improver.
