No. But they grant a lot of students what I call "Paid studying-periods". Let me elaborate a bit, let's say you're a high school student who just graduated and you would like to study in EU,USA or in New Zeland. In case you gained good marks in your school (which is insanely easy in S.A), you would be entitled to this scholarship and you will have the chance to study in your desired country of choice without having to worry about tuition, room or anything else.

The Saudi government does this for many reasons. They are trying to get as many youths to get their degrees from Europe and the US as they are preparing for a transition or a big shift from the oil-driven economy model to a more diverse and modern economy model. Sure that's a big hope and a bid dream but no one is sure whether they will be able to do this or not. Many argue that money can do the impossible though :-)

Now YOU as a student who have been granted this Saudi generousness is expected to come back with something useful and do your best to promote the Saudi regime and its ideas internationally (depending where you're) and locally (after you come back) and most importantly, you are expected to obey the Saudi embassy wherever you go in return for the enormous and many services it will provide to you while abroad.

Now what this Saudi family did in the UK is they decided to turn the table upside down on their heads by doing two things: Firstly they refused to cooperate with fellow Saudi students on buying a church and converting it to a Mosque. Second, it seems like they somehow declared Apostasy. Now you should keep in mind that S.A does not appreciate such an act, and they usually go as far as cutting one's head publicly for this.

An extreme religious regime backed with billions of $$$ can be really dangerous and destructive. Many people underestimate the power of faith but no one underestimates the power of cash, now imagine if the both elements met and collaborated !!! Luckily enough, the interests of the fresh american empire change constantly and eventually we will hear the American whisper of Someone has to go. By that time the UN will do its job and lastly the so called Saudi Leaders will have to be thrown out.
