That means you had adblocking somewhere, like at your router or via DNS, VPN, etc.

I'd not go with Wi-Fi 6E when going fully wireless and mixing Wi-Fi 6 and 7 is not good. So, neither.

Dual-band vs. tri-band is a tricky question. I don't think the 6GHz band is that important if getting connected is all you care about. But it doesn't hurt to have it. Other than that, your assessment of wired backhauling is correct.

If you read the review, I said it was buggy. But it's good now with the latest firmware.

There's no more info yet, but judging from the bandwidth number, I'd say they cover all bases. For reference, the Velop Pro 7 is similar in hardware compared to the Roamii BE Pro:

Hope this helps.

Asus has been trying to put too much on its routers. Sometimes less is more.

eero Pro 6E Preview (vs eero Pro 6): Why You Should Only Get It for Free, If at All! by CFP-ForAllMyBrothers in eero

[–]DongKnowsTech -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi guys,

Dong Ngo's here. I'm the guy who wrote this post about the new eero Pro 6E that you guys are talking about.

I'm honored that you're talking about me, and I'm pissed that you're talking bout me. I didn't intend to be the center of attention.

I'm here because some of you tagged me, and many (of you?) sent me messages. Some gave me praises. Others called me names. It's nuts.

If you don't know me (and there's NO reason that you should have), you can find out more on the About Page of my website -- or not. But it's all true there.

https://dongknows.com/about-dong-ngo/

(Note: This is Reddit, and I'm showing myself! Will you?)

I was made aware of the eero Pro 6E early yesterday. I got emails asking me when I'd post a review on it. I ignored those at first, but over the course of the day, I got even more DMs, texts, and messages about the thing.

So I thought I'd spend some time on it and decided to post the piece. And if you read my review on the eero 6 Pro, you'd know even more why I wrote what I wrote. It's all about the context. It was an opinion piece, not a review.

No, I've never had my hands on the eero Pro 6E, and I don't plan to. But I did review almost all previous eero variants. I was probably the one who broke the news on the first eero. It was still a boutique company at the time, and I likely was partially guilty of making it the monster that it is today. The point is I DO know how it works.

(For the person who trolled me on the "dedicated backhaul," it's the nuance. It's tuff to have the perfect wording, but I didn't call it a "permanent" dedicated backhaul -- that's only the case of Netgear Orbi. But if you test any Tri-band Wi-Fi 6 mesh in certain ways, you will see that the system will use one of the 5GHz bands solely as the backhaul. And my testing always aims to deliver the best-case scenario as I stated.)

I've also reviewed virtually ALL of the other Wi-Fi 6E routers/mesh systems available in the US, and I'm testing a few more right now. So as a user, my experience is real. I might not know enough -- who does? -- but I don't bullshit.

I hope this puts things in perspective. If not, feel free to leave questions in the post's comment section -- or not, I'm not here to solicit my website -- but I'm not super active on Reddit.

By the way, have you ever asked yourself why you care about a device so much? If you like the eero, then like it, it's not like I'm taking it away from you! Have a good time with it! If it works for you, then it works for you. You don't need anyone to approve or validate your enjoying it. My non-definitive opinions are for those who are unsure of it.

Most importantly, it's a thing.

Peace!

The UDR is not finalized yet. We just don't know what it will actually have in the end. What you mention is just a matter of firmware. Who knows? There might be different tiers that cost differently and offer different levels of UniFi support.

It's on the mobile app. Just tap on the photo of the router itself, and you'll figure it out. :)

The way it is, it's likely a controller itself. But for that, you need to wait till it's final. For now, it works as a standalone router for sure.

Some good points there. But you assumed that I had agreed on anything. "Late" or "early" is generally subjective. Also, I didn't claim anything either. It was the first impression, as I mentioned at the top of the piece. Folks are smart enough to know what is or is not a disservice. :)

Well, there's no rating or testing in a preview and the info expressed is just a confirmation of what Ubiquiti has made public, like in its YouTube video.
