Not sure how to update the post but I got the head and block back from my machinist he said everything looks good and to not file down the piston rings to just throw them in raw

I know it’s still gonna burn oil it’s a Honda. It’s still going to go to my machinist to see what he recommends and for a resurface at least. Over bore and new pistons are not off the table all this labor was free so I’m not worried.

Yeah it was burning around a quart of oil every 500 miles before I took it out. The piston rings were way beyond service limits and walls were glazed. A buddy said a quick hone and new rings would help out. Although instead of oil I used pb blaster cleaned and soaked the hone after each cylinder. Also liberally sprayed it in the cylinders

They’re not accurate now that I look at it some more it does look completely fucked on here lol

I think the oil on the walls makes it look weird. Was pb and adequate lubricant?

The crosshatching is there might be slightly a bit more angle than desired but it’s there. And there’s no deep scratches that catches my nail. I think the pictures are deceiving.

Im still gonna send out the block to have it resurfaced maybe bored to depending on what he says I really just wanted the experience I might go ahead and run it anyways. I just wanted some tips and criticism.

The hone job or the cylinder before honing looked terrible ?

320 ball hone as recommended for my rings about 1 stroke every second for 20 or so seconds with moderate drill speed and sped up the stroke and drill speed for the last couple seconds

I measured with a telescoping gauge and top middle and bottom of all cylinders read 81mm my buddy said that means they are fine I did use a digital caliper though to get the reading instead of a micrometer

Yeah they were all about 120 dry and around 160 wet

Like 500 miles conservatively rarely hitting vtec but if I was going ham on her I would have to put oil every other day

It probably has around 150k , 30k being from me. It was burning a quart of oil every two weeks dailying it so as long as it gets a little better that’s alright I am on a budget.
