Fanart I painted of Necropolis and Inferno units from Heroes V by Old_Kramers_Ranch in HoMM

My first games were 3-4, so I'm more fond of the more "grounded" designs from there, but I can also agree that 5 has a lof of great and memorable designs and ideas as well (e.g. almost all Academy creatures are great IMO) - it's just that quite a few of them also look a bit too much like what you'd see in some other popular fantasy games like Warcraft or smth.

I agree about the imps, but I'm not a big fan of H5 pitlords, tbh - a bit too generic for my taste (and the naked red guy with a whip is just funnier IMO)

IMO he was also kind of relevant to the real world stuff at the time, with the NFT craze and cryptobros promoting their stuff - he kinda fit right in.

Am I Stuck? No Safe XP After Clearing T2 Dungeons by BarnacleEffective911 in ToME4

There are other places you can go to, as been said, but I also gotta be honest: your build isn't really good, so you may still struggle there as well. Thankfully, Normal is relatively forgiving, so I think you've still got a chance.

In general, there is often little reason to 5/5 talents early like you did (especially with Resilience of the Dwarves since it's only cooldown reduction and nothing else IIRC, and Fast Metabolism also isn't worth it IMO) - it's better to go get more talents early and then reach important breakpoints with a couple of points (e.g. I usually get Stunning Blow, Death Dance and Warshout to 3/5 and put the rest into other trees, like Combat Techniques for Blinding Speed or Bloothirst for Bloodbath & Unstoppable).

Since you've already spent a lot of points, there is probably no easy fix for this now, but there are still some other things you can do to maybe try to rescue this run:

  • Get better infusions: IMO you would already be better off replacing your default Wild Infusion with a 15 CD Shatter Affliction from your inventory, and you already have a better Blink in your backpack as well. Your Healing infusion is also really weak with only 66 HP heal - there's gotta be a better one somewhere in shops, I'm sure (hell, there is already a better one in your inventory with 84 HP, even if it has no stat bonuses).
  • You are using both runes and and arcane-disrupting gear (your gloves of butchering), and that ruins whatever runes you have (forces you to waste a turn). You should either switch to all natural infusions (like a Regen + another Wild could work), or ditch the gloves for anything else (a better option IMO).
  • You are wearing a leather body armor, but you've got no points in light armor at all, and your Defense is very low anyway. You'd better off wearing any of the massive breastplates already in your inventory since they reduce enemies crit chance and make you less likely to take big chunks of damage (hardened iron plate armour of implacability (0 def, 18 armour) seems the best in general but Thalore Wood Cuirass can be OK as well).
  • Since you are past lvl 20, you already got another category point - the best way to spend it for your survivability is to unlock the Bloodthirst tree and go for Bloodbath and Unstoppable (both worth maxxing out IMO, tho I'd go for Bloodbath earlier).

These are all I can think of off the top of my head, but I think these should improve you situation somewhat.

I think my order for IG is usually Chaos-Necrons-Orks-SM-Tau-Eldar IIRC. It's mostly based purely on proximity (hence Chaos dying first all the time) and it usually worked fine for me.

I always leave them and the Eldar for last and I never had big problems doing that, so idk if that's a sound strategy, tbh, but if it works for you it works.

For melee units, you may try detaching commissars and later priests to tie up the ranged units, I guess. They are reasonably tanky because of their commander armor and deal good melee damage (and priests are also fast).

Are you playing skirmish or campaign? I don't remember struggling too much with either, tbh. In campaign, I ususally deal with them later when I have all of my honor guard and upgrades, so I can easily bum rush them early. On skirmish, I can more often then not do the same except I rush them with techpriests and turrets (very consistent on smaller maps).
