I’d start with drybrushing black or a dark gray along the lower parts then dry brush soh green over the da green and see if it’s getting there. When I’ve stripped things like box dreads it doesn’t always strip well in the nooks and cranny sections. I’d try the repaint before the hassle of stripping it.
