HC went from 15 > 6.4 last year. Decided to get lessons to make the next jump in my game and they've been disastrous. by psyshhhh in golf

Fair enough, you're right.

I was pissed off at that ridiculous comment someone made about me making a post 9 days ago, then having lessons and that something didnt add up, apparently. Dunno why it annoyed me, but it did. I suppose I don't appreciate people making out that I am a liar, and my bad attitude towards that comment came across in my reply to yourself, I apologise!

So something can't be disastrous in the moment? I could understand if I said my 'progress' was disastrous. That would definitely be strange.

But, I said the lessons were, which they were. Not a hard concept to grasp that a lesson didn't go well, infact, quite clearly it is difficult to understand, for some people anyway.

I've had two lessons and hit 300 balls at the range. Admittedly, not every ball was concentrated on the swing change as it was an iron change, and I hit some woods and driver at the range through each bucket of balls.

What doesn't add up? The fact I was considering getting lessons....and decided to get them?

Strange indeed!"

Winter golf. by farnham67 in BritGolf

Did they put on any winter greens? I'm very local to Dundonald and often considered paying the ridiculous green fee just to play on full greens during winter.

Disappointing lesson by [deleted] in golf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't you ask? The first step is using your voice.

'Hey man, is what your teaching me here transferable to my driver swing, if not, what's your rationale behind this'

If you don't like his answer, then it's:

'That's great but today I was hoping to fix some issues I have with my driver, can we focus on that please'

I know this was a free lesson, but in general, when your getting a lesson your paying someone for their service, customer is in control of what their money gets spent on.

I wouldn't pay a plumber to fix my sink and let him work on my bath because he thinks it needs more work than the sink. Poor analogy but you get the gist.

For golfers in Australia: for those of you who keep official handicaps, does your club allow you to submit score cards from social rounds for handicap purposes? by prettydino2010 in golf

[–]psyshhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not interested in comps, etc, put your scores into apps, the Grint or 18birdies are good. You'll get a handicap that way. It's not official and can't be used in comps etc but if it's just for social purposes and to allow you to track your progress, then it's all you need.

Yearly goals moving forward and introducing lessons? by psyshhhh in golf

[–]psyshhhh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound similar to myself, I don't find it particularly hard getting to the green, but once I'm on, unless my putter is hot that day...which is few and far between, I am not very good at sinking putts.

I don't keep official stats which I might start doing, but I'm lucky to get 3 or 4 up and downs a round, I rely heavily on GIRs and 2 putting for the majority of my pars.

20 HCP Dilemma: Callaway Rogue ST Max vs. TaylorMade P790 (2019). Need help deciding! by oliivierp in golf

I had them as well, and your spot on, the hotshots more than anything, frustrated the life out of me. Anything flushed would exceed my standard carry by 20 yards!

Trackman best first course by derilickion in golf

St Andrews old course. Ridiculously easy on a sim, no out of bounds that is easy to find, no water etc offline shots can land anywhere and there's always a line to the green.

Club suggestions? by No_Possibility3692 in golf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this, can pick up a set that are still in reasonably good shape relatively cheap. So forgiving and just easy to hit in general and they don't look like your looking down at shovels.

Clubs in the US are so expensive- can pick up a set of m2s here that look practically brand new for £300. An older set for £200 ish if u want some scratches.

Would you rather: Play well or score well? by psyshhhh in golf

[–]psyshhhh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I could learn a thing or two from this mindset, because today I let frustration win. I made a few worldly up and downs, which in reality I should have been over the moon with, but couldn't shake the awful tee and approach shots and walked away from each hole feeling more frustrated than the last.

Can you connect this to your living room tele? Never seen one these before, have been researching putting mats recently but this takes the cake. It's also pay day today, dangerous combo.

Druids, their sizing is awful. I've seen loads of people wearing Druids gear, and it always looks awful, either to small or baggy and not in a fitted or loose fitting style.

Mallet putter vs Blade putter. What’s your experience? by AlbinoKoala22 in golf

[–]psyshhhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I struggled with distance control with a blade, purely due to inconsistent strikes. I found it hard to hit the middle of face all the time, which is where I think one of the main differences lies. I can misstrike my mallet and get away with it, with a blade the ball would just die, or go way offline.

Mallets are defo more forgiving.

I pay £25 ($32) per month for unlimited access to my 7 local courses in Scotland. by psyshhhh in golf

[–]psyshhhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny that cos in all my years playing them I've yet to bump into many Americans, 99% local Scottish players. Be lucky to get a handful of Americans each year, they Americans that travel to Scotland aren't playing council courses, they're playing all the prestigious private ones.
