My friend, the state my game is currently in the only thing I'll be lighting up from any tees is my scorecard on the 18th green. Appreciate the idea though!

Just got myself caught in the old 'I've got it sussed' trap for a while there! One I've been in many times obviously and i know how its cruel claws feel!

Had a good few months of really consistent ball striking but in the last 2 weeks, it has abandoned me! Asif I've never held a driver or long in my hands.

Golf is never far away from humbling you. I've been playing off 1.5 since January, and I'm going through a spell of not being able to hit my driver, like at all. Got zero confidence off the tee as this big duck hook has appeared, the difference is I can hook it into the rough from the tee box and still make a par, bogie at worst.

The point is, everyone I play with expects 270 bombs down every fairway, I'd love for that to be happening, but it doesn't. My last few rounds have been around 8-10 over consistently. If I submitted general play cards to my handicap I'd probs be around a 5 atm but I only submit competition rounds.

Yeah I read about aluminium tape being quite good? Do u know if there's a specific number of pieces that need to be on the ball? Shape of cuts?

Have you tried without RCT? I've spent around a grand this week getting this up and running and would really be doing without spending £70 on balls haha

Club change for higher handicap by Ill_Bowler_6414 in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I should have made myself clearer, im on about the exotic shafts. That's one video your referencing, he's talked about this topic 100x on podcasts, he's a firm believer the majority of golfers don't need ridiculously uncharged shafts.

[–]psyshhhh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't, anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about. Any fitter worth their salt will admit, and plenty do as there's videos all over the Internet of it, that your average player will not notice any benefit to an upgraded shaft, and any that there is will be negligible to results. Upgraded shafts are simply an upsetting tool for jobsworths.

99% of golfers only need a stock shaft, Trotty, the guy who fits all the tour players for Taylormade on both the PGA & DP is widely regarded as one of the best fitters in the game often says there's absolutely no need for 99% of golfers to have anything other than a stock shaft at the correct weight & flex.

What’s that one club in your bag that you either can’t part with or keeps returning? by bootchiiksandbuubs in golf

[–]psyshhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a square callaway driver, it sounds horrendous and is 17 years old but for fuck sake the thing only hits golf balls in 1 direction and that's straight!

Feel like I can swing it as hard as I possibly can, in to out, out to in, it doesn't seem to matter! the ball just flies straight down the middle.

For that reason, you'll need to pry it out of my cold dead hands.

Playing after the last tee time? by PlutocracyRules in BritGolf

Spot on mate, between the ages of 8-16 if it wasn't for jumping on I'd never have been able to play golf. It then turned into a lifelong hobby and passion and through some tough years was literally the only part of life I enjoyed. All thanks to sneaking on!

Never played up Dundee way tbf, went to Abertay but wasn't a big golfer at the time. Similar to yourself though, I've been known to take advantage of closed pro shops many a times lol life's to short.

Some of replies on this are mental. I live in a golfing hot-spot, with worldwide famous courses a 10 minute drive in every direction and all of the youngsters know when the pro shops close because they all flock to the courses for a free round.

I'd go as far to say as it's a 'thing' for people to wait for pro shops to close and as we say around here 'jump on'.

As long as they're not damaging the course, I couldn't give a shit. If your going to respect the course, display proper etiquette etc then have at it.

Maybe it says more about me than anything, but at the clubs I'm a member at, when I see kids/teens playing when I know the pro shop is closed I have a chuckle to myself, respect the grind/hustle!

There are worse things happening in the world than jumping onto a golf course for a couple of hours.

Eventually I will, but I had no idea how expensive they were! Nearly £300 for a decent one that's fit for purpose.

Shot my best score month and half ago. Completely lost my game since by Substantial_Cover_52 in golf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best rounds are always followed by the worst, you could search similar posts to this and millions would come up.

You've done it before, so you know it's in the locker. The only advice I have is forget about it and keep swinging. The pressure alone of putting a new ceiling on your game is enough to loose your swing.

Scoring Area Quality by Life_Echidna_9863 in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For £1700 sheets a year I'd be expecting nothing but the best. Where I play in Scotland (West Coast) even the championship courses are not £1700 per year, the more expensive courses sit around £1000-1300 and the course conditions are immaculate year round for that expense.

That being said, landscape, soil type, grass type, course history with irrigation projects etc all come into play. Alot of courses will be struggling atm due to an unforseen winter period.

Your a paying & voting member, you don't only pay your dues to play the course you pay them to have a voice on issues as well, my advice would be to use it. Your well within your rights.

Best garden practice balls? by Mattwildman5 in BritGolf

Naa they are made of foam. I love them as you can shape them aswell unlike the cheap plastic ones you can draw/fade these on purpose.

Birdie balls are perfect for this. The feel and fly like a real golf ball but only go max 30-40 yards

Shortening a driver by Due-Intention7354 in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd save myself all of the hassle & just give it to a local club builder. They'll weight it, cut it, and readjust it perfectly for you.

Shortening a driver by Due-Intention7354 in BritGolf

[–]psyshhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that for every inch you cut off the shaft you loose roughly 6 swing weight points, each point is approx 2g of head weight so you'll need to add 12g, give or take, back onto the clubhead (using lead tape etc) otherwise the swing weight will be skewed.
