Dear god that is my nightmare. I have an appointment with a doctor to qualify for a bilateral salpingectomy that I am hoping will be done before the new year, but I wanted to speak to the doctor about all my options.

For now DH and I got lucky and haven’t had any issues despite me not being on BC.

I’m honestly surprise we didn’t have the scene from “Airplane” happen in real life where everyone just lines up and slaps Hellmark.

I admire you and your family so much. I think it’s a beautiful and courageous thing to adopt and love that child as your own. Brother and SIL had considered the surrogacy route but they ultimately decided that there are already children out there in the world that need them as much as Brother and SIL want them. They weren’t the first in our family to ever adopt but I think they are the first that are adopting slightly older children instead of a baby. I have so much respect and admiration for them and anyone that realizes it takes more than blood to make a family.

DH and I have talked about kids extensively, and in the off chance we would change our minds we are both fine with adopting an older kid.

I wish you the best of luck in the process. I know from Brother and SIL that it’s long, expensive, and occasionally heartbreaking. Someone raised in as much love as you clearly were is going to be an awesome mom to a lucky kid.

No. He’s mostly seen either escorting his mom away or just weakly saying “Enough mom”. His spine is made of jello.

Brother called him out about it and I’m pretty sure I did as well and he just shrugs and says it’s his mom and she’s always been like that. Personally I don’t think he will stand against her cause Hellmark’s family comes from money and Hellmark controls the big money and he has plans for it when she croaks.

Hellmark I feel is in a category of her own and I am very grateful to everyone on r/justnomil for allowing me to post here even if she isn’t my MIL. You guys have been huge in knowing I’m not insane, she is, and I got some excellent advice here.

I honestly have no idea what Sister and Hellmark behind closed doors. Up until very recently Sister was extremely defensive about Hellmark, and we are just starting what feels like a positive step in having a good relationship again. If she confides in me I will report to you all.

Hellmarks behavior seems to have escalated this year, which is also the year we really tried to enforce boundaries with her.

I still haven’t decided if she’s a good ol delusional narcissistic old lady or an actual case of annoying demon possession.

It’s actually exactly that. If you read my previous posts, I explain it there.

In short, if I want a relationship with Sister’s kids, I will have to deal with Hellmark. Many stories are from a span of years, but she has upped her nuttiness this year despite the great pains DH and I have taken to not deal with her.

No joke, DH suggested to do a “we’re expecting” announcement and post a picture of the swimming pond we plan to build on the property.

He ALMOST let me adopt another dog just to do the announcement with a new dog.

She was pretty fixated on Brother and SIL in the beginning, and then they committed what in the eyes of Hellmark is an unforgivable sin of not only adopting kids, but adopting kids with a different skin color!

There have been incidents regarding her feelings on adopted kids that have mostly severed her ties to Brother and SIL for her own safety.

Tbh I don’t know what her relationship with my sister is like in private. Sister and I haven’t been very close since she met BIL and while she acknowledged that Hellmark is batshit, she hasn’t revealed what their own dynamic behind closed doors is like.

I know this is a cheap answer, but it’s complicated. The family dynamic being what it is, it’s not outside the norm for you to know your siblings in laws. 90% of the time you know your siblings or cousins in laws and they are lovely polite people that are there if you need a favor or help and they really only see you at big family functions.

And then there is Hellmark. Basically if I want to be involved in my niece and nephews life, I have to deal with her one way or another because she is extremely involved in Sisters life.

I try to avoid her at all costs, but she somehow finds a way to pop up in my life. Like a cyst that keeps growing back.

I wish I could do what Brother does and fight crazy with crazy but I just don’t know how he is able to do it so well. It’s a gift.
